allaboutthedawgs:   You are truly a gracious person, to take what I said and then be so understanding about my mistake.  I mean that sincerly.

Many times I have starated typing something on here in response to the last post, and then by the time I hit the submitt button, my response and the post I was responding to, have several postings between them, and because I did not specifically address it to the full screen name of the person (sometimes I just start out my responses like "chill dude"), I make an enemy that I did not want.

I need to get a shorter screen name.  Maybe "Me" or  "T".  That might help.

dogabaris:  First off, nice looking dog.  Secondly, I believe that Muslims are like everyone else when it comes to the "laid back" followers and the zealots,  Just like Christians that bomb abortion clinics, not to mention the Crusades, and those rteligious zealots that go around protesting at the funerals of dead American soldiers just because the U. S. accepts homosexuals.  All religions have extremists.  Unfortunately, I just believe that there is no other way for this situation to end, except in a winner and a loser.  There is no chance for a peaceful outcome, IMO.  But, of course, I am not God.  If'en I was, I would have made everyone exactly like my wife (except me).  It would have been boring after a while, but the world would be peaceful, organized and full of flowers everywhere.  Of course I would have to eat take out a lot, as she is not that good at cooking..... (oops) there I go again, back to the dog house Mr.!

I have to hide this post when she comes in to the office

Dogabaris:  Thanks for speaking up.  I hope you know Desert Ranger does not speak for the majoritiy of people in the USA.

I agree with sueincc, that blather didn't even belong with the thread. The issue was the dog tied out. Sometimes I wonder how these threads get so twisted and off topic.

Hi again,

First of all thank you for your all kind replies... I know that not all of you think that we're all bad :) As you say there are extremes in every relagion. I just tried to explain the situation from our view.  And sadly i know that any of our conversation will not put the situation in a better position :/.

When i come to the picture, i can say that it could be photographed from any country... Yes i accept that in our country it is not a strange view from the regions who needs watch dogs. But it could be any region from any country which needs watch dogs for protaction. But also there are many of people who keep their dogs as pets or as sport dogs in their houses or in kennels around here.(for exampe i keep my dogs at home + garden and i sleep with my little girl :) you can see her in this site if you search as "pixie von tank" :D) It was not a commen view at past but you can easily see this kind of dogs when you come to Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Antalya, Bursa or any other cities in Turkey (for example we were in a open-air pub tonight, and one of my friends took her yorkie with her and unfortunately it attacked towards me :) ).

As an additional information about Turkey, we have an assotiation of german shepherd dogs and we just got 2 year of trial membership to WUSV. In the end of this process we hope that we'll get the full membership to WUSV.

Congratulations on your membership in the SV.

I agree, that picture could have been taken anywhere (including the USA).  A tethered dog is not indicative of a mistreated dog by any stretch of the imagination.  I am going to again bring up sled dogs.  I am no expert, by any stretch of the imagination, but I know I have seen many pictures of them in their yards in the snow tied to their dog houses, all of them staked out.   These dogs aren't being mistreated just because they are tethered.

Most serious mushers keep anywhere from 50 to 75 dogs, some even more, at any given time. They are tethered to boxes or barrels and are not considered to be or treated like pets. They are working dogs bred for one thing, to run.  Most do not need or desire human contact. This does not mean that they are not loved by their owners, it is just not the same type of love pet owners give to their housedogs or breeders give to their dogs. Some of you would consider the life of a working sleddog to be sad and cruel and that's not because they live their lives at the end of chains. Again, one end to the spectrum to the other. Dogs that wear clothing and ride in carriages vs dogs that either run fast or die fast. Which are happier? Beats me.There is a lot of controversy in the world of sled dogs regarding the way some mushers manage their dogs, how litters are culled, and what happens to those that do not cut it on a team. Some of these mushers are friends, so I'll not go there.
