Here's a simple suggestion that should end all the concerns for those who don't think we need these new forums -DO NOT READ OR POST TO THEM.  No one is forced to open a thread they don't want to read or to go to a forum they don't like. Read and post to the forums you like. I don't open the OT forum, the training forum or the performance forums on a regular basis. On the rare occasions that I do open them, I skim over the threads looking for a topic that may be of interest.

Ironic thaat this thread has receive much more attention than threads that have addressed serious health issues in our breed.

Why does this have to be a show vs working line issue?  Why do you have to keep bringing up working line people as if they are the cause of all the problems?

And the beat goes on............

I don't post as much anymore and it has nothing to do with PA or show vs working. It has everything to do with subject matter. It also seems to be more fluff, less talking about working and improving the breed. Less sharing of knowledge that will benefit others, more talking about cosmetic issues. Not saying this is wrong or bad, just saying that is the way I view the board these days. Obviously, it is good for some people so pay no attention to my sentiments, life is too short to worry about this.

Yes, Blitzen it does...Thanks for sharing the same thoughts over and over on this thread.  Sometimes there is more to things than meets the eye.

Gustav, as usual you are correct.

Since we now have a conformation forum (that makes Blitzen and others happy) and a sport forum; how about a real working dog forum?  A forum dedicated to dogs that perform a real service and are worked every day in the real world?  That would be a forum that knowledgeable posters could share information and ideas with out worrying about hurting anyones feelings.  I'm sure it would be very civil and informative.  Show line and working line dogs of any breed would be welcome, they just have to perform a service or do real work.

Beetree said:
"Why not just rename the new forums to something less divisive, like: Conformation Showing and Sport Enthusiasts.

And it has been changed which is much better for the area of discussion, me thinks.

She also said, and I had to laugh:

"Otherwise if you are catering to the weakest temperaments amongst us, "

They say people look like their dogs, well I think they act like them too.  Everyone seems to pick a dog with a  temperament to match theirs.  True, dont' you think?

You're welcome slamdunc. My pleasure.

Great idea!! I agree wholheartedly as someone who has show lines now but is ex search and rescue dog handler and also someone who has a service dog. It would cover many of my interests.

Probably because I have witnessed it and have about 40 to 50 PMs testifying to it.

I am not talking all working people, most are perfect members, but like all else in life a few bad apples can ruin a lot.

I am not making it the issue. The people of this forum are making it the issue. Only a couple of people voiced a negative opinion and most of the working line people never commented to me in private but they all wanted to publicly demand to know why we are stopping these attacks. Why would anybody in there right mind be against us stopping personal attacks? I believe it has a lot to do with the messenger, had Oli made that announcement I think it would have been much better received, but being who I am and someone or multiple some ones spilling the beans of my forum identity-no matter what I do, a certain group is not going to like it and definitely will not stand up and even acknowledge a good thing when it slaps them in the face. Do many of you say job well done? Nope, but I can count on a certain group to complain and try and make all I do, bad. It is the same members over and over and over.

You asked: "Why does this have to be a show vs working line issue?"  My answer is because over the years certain members have drawn the line in the sand and are so blinded by what they feel is right that they cannot see how their words and actions have served the very thing we are talking about. If people want this division to end start looking at the groups you belong to as they are every bit to blame as anyone. It can only be changed by the people, once Joe Public accepts the fact that not all people have to like the same thing maybe the GSD community can come together, but I do not see it. If anything the very organizations you belong to, do a much better job of segregating GSD people than this forum could ever think about doing. Fact.

Ain't that the truth.  I agree completely, if Oli had spoken up earlier (even years ago) none of this would be an issue.  Actually, I do think you are making it the issue.  But, that is just my opinion.
