Ruger 1 I am not the best or most informed bible thumper but any idiot can do a reference search and find bible scripture in complete support of moral issues!  as to the corruption of bible texts as some have screamed! the dead sea scrolls have conclusively and undisputably proved the absence of misinterpetation or copying of the holy scriptures ! You are correct to state that this is not the place to learn those precepts! You are just as correct in your statement as I am in this! This is not the place to post lies and inaccuracies reguarding the scriptures or the legitamacy of our founding fathers founding our contry on judeo christian principles! I hate lies no matter what forum they are told in! AS for looking for true wisdom all one has to do is open the book and read asking for understanding! And as to understanding the bible is specifically clear that these people who dispute it,s accuracy or truthfullness are described perfecrtly when the scripture says they think the gospel is foolishness because they are perishing! IT IS NOT MY INTENTION TO PREACH ,HOWEVER I WILL NOT STAND IDLY BY WHILE PEOPLE TELL BLATANT LIES ABOUT THE HOLY WRITINGS!

Really?

What's the Hebrew word for consentual sex between two adults of the same sex/gender?
What's the Greek word for it?

raymond

Well tell us dear!  tell us what the greek and hebrew word is?

raymond

by raymond on 06 August 2010 - 23:08

What still searching for it? try this one ! If memory serves me correctly it is the root greek word for our word pornography! Ugh porniea! Meaning the  act of immoral sexual intercourse!  has nothing to do with consent ! the act of moral intercouse was strictly between a man and woman who were bound in marriage! all other acts were considered porneia ! ranging from homosexuality all the way to beastiality and all them other consential sex acts!!! LOL LOL shall I post a more descriptive  definition!

Myracle

No, I didn't ask you what word the Bible uses.

I asked you what the Greek word for consentual sex between two adult men is.
A SPECIFIC name is used for EVERY SINGLE OTHER form of sexual misconduct listed [beastiality, incent, etc etc].  Why is there no SPECIFIC word used for sex between two consenting men?

In fact, why would they even NEED to list incest, beastiality, etc etc etc, if they already covered it with the BLANKET word of pornia, which you contend refers to all forms of "sexual immorality".

Seems God got a tad redundant with his wordage, if your interpretation is to be accepted.

I did not give you a bible word dear! I gave you a greek word for sex ! Actually the word porneia is descriptive of sex between men! Says nothing about consent! So now you give us a greek word for sex between two women?  it is the same damn word dear porneia ! the root word of our pornograpy! Are you completely daft? But you go ahead and lie telling everybody I gave a bible word! Oh LORD help us! Wait I will google the greek word and post the more accurate definition!

Don't you find it ODD that there's a specific word for every OTHER form of sex act, but NOT consenting sex between two same-sex adults?

You, interestingly, initially define pornia as *any* "immoral" sexual act.
The Bible doesn't specify that homosexuality is immoral, because there is not a specific WORD for just homosexuality that appears anywhere in the Bible.

You say pornia references homosexuality because its immoral.  What do you base the belief that homosexuality is immoral on?
The appearance of the word pornia in the Bible.  Its circular logic.

And to ask another question, if the first one is too hard:

Why is it that every single death penalty crime in Leviticus is repeated in Deuteronomy, except one?

And why is that one, homosexuality, not repeated, and instead a new death penalty crime is introduced called "temple prostitution"?

Myracle

Since you still haven't figured it out...

The Greek word for two adults of the same sex engaging in a sexual or romantic relationship is homophilia.
A word that doesn't appear a single time in the entire Bible, Old OR New Testament.

Lets drop it.  We will all find out one day when we meet our maker whether or not we interpreted the Bible correctly.  Certainly arguing here is pointless.
