Bump!

Folks, please don't forget to speak out for the integrity of the breed: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/EnforcetheRules/

I for one am glad that the videos were posted, from start to finish, for each dog in that class.  I believe the videos were clear enough that even folks not in attendance could see what happened.  I'll admit I've never been to a SS, but after what I saw on those videos, I have no desire to ever do so. This is a personal choice, and I believe everyone who sees the videos can make up their own minds.

It is very nice to see that there are over 200 people who want to see the Rules followed. Kind of makes  you wonder about all the folks who still haven't put their name on the petition.

I had several discussions with many people at the North Americans this weekend. Based on the discussions I had, it appears many people still do not know there is a petition and what it is we hope to accomplish. The word is still spreading and people are still looking at the petition.

I strongly encourage members of USA to contact their regional breed wardens, regional directors and voice your concerns! We still have a lot of work to do.

My point is to support Dee's agenda by signing her petition.

Sometimes, integrity may win in the long haul.

I certainly hope so, Louise!!!!  Our Sieger Shows are NOT the BSP's, but our dogs should know their jobs!  A simple ScHH1 routine is not too much to ask.  Our leading dogs should NOT come off the sleeve with the stick hits, should know a hold and bark, be able to out and hold the helper!

IMO, it is a violation of our trust for people to set themselves up (to represent us) in positions of leadership (elected or appointed) for the breed to betray us with lies and political cronyism--and make rules that appear to apply to everyone else but them.

You will find that my whistle-blowing posts are always factual and documented to the best of my knowledge.

I have signed the petition.  I have read the numerous internet boards about this topic.  So here is my challenge to you all, contact your breed wardens with suggestions to implement improvements.  This is not going to be fixed by next year, but there can be improvement and it will have to be in measurable steps.

Here are a few things that are being discussed:

a rating system for pronounced... P1,P2 etc.  The VA 1 dog would have to be P1.

allowing a sufficient rating back into the gaiting, but at the end of the v ratings, behind the dogs who were able to correctly finish the routine.

We also need to find a way to recognise the V rated working dogs and I think that the day may soon be here when there is a V or VA sable.

We have all had our say about how the rules are not being followed, now let's have some constructive input on the steps that will indicate progress in the performance portion of the SS.

Some of you are in my Region and I would love to hear from you, be sure that I will bring all of your ideas to the BAC.

Let's have those ideas.

Lorri,

It is nice to hear that there is discussion about what to do, and that RBWs are asking for ideas. Thank you! I do have a question for you if you wouldn't mind? I know I am somewhat naive, and rather an idealist at times. What I do not understand is why,....it would be so difficult to enforce the rules, as they are currently written, for the 2009 Sieger Show?

Secondly, I very much appreciate that there is discussion and ideas being bandied about, but, is there discussion as to why we would lower the already pretty low bar? From my perspective, it seems there is agreement that something has to change.  We have rules already, and they are quite clear, they just are not being followed or enforced. Is the discussion based around reinventing the wheel, because there is this "concern" that kennels with larger quantities of dogs would not present if the rules were followed, as they are currently written?

I don't generally like to get involved in issues like this. I'm an AKC person,  not a GSD breeder, I have no aspirations to ever be anything in this breed and all my GSD's have been and will be pets only.  I also understand that most here think AKC is about as low as it can get and that we who show at AKC shows are not worth the room we take up on earth. Think what you want, but believe this if you never believe another thing I say on the board - the AKC people I know would NEVER allow their rules to be blatantly violated in favor of a few big name breeders who are intent on controlling every aspect of the breed in the US.  Are you nuts or apathetic?

I just don't understand why almost every member of the UScA is not begging to sign this petition. Why would you allow a handful of bullies to ruin your breed and sport?  There are rules in place, insist that they are followed and applied equally to all.  You guys really need to take back your sport unless you want to continue to live in the shadow of the big players who will intimidate you to death if you get in the way of their success.  What are you afraid of? Can't use their stud dogs, the ones that can't bite? Can't buy a puppy from them out of parents with fudged titles and  bogus breed surveys? Now there's a big loss to the breed.
