WOE IS ME. A POOR HORSE FROM NEW MEXICO TRAINED BY A POOR MAN FROM DALHART TEXAS WINS IT ALL. TRAINER AND OWNER.

I twanted Fresian Fire would win, his owner lost a horse who raced last year with a broken leg or something like that.  My boyfriend wanted the General Quarter to win.  Either would have been good as they have both put much into the game.  This horse came in and blew everyone away after a 21 hour ride to get there.  You have to love an underdog. :o)

Was a good race........ at least the horse is alive on all four feet.
Great odds....

LOL Moons,  I am involved in racing, and have become very jaded over the whole thing.  I don't think any horse races on its own steam anymore.  It is more of a test who has the best chemist working for them.  I hope I'm wrong in this case, as I also love to see the underdog win.

Finally, done with dinner, dinner dishes, big dog stuff, little dog stuff, done helping hubby try to finish the new sink...-damn fittings still leaking, back to Home Depot again-- I can finally get back online----the Derby was awesome! I wanted General Quarters or Fresian Fire to win, had me my 1 itty bitty little mint julep.....but Mine that Bird just BLEW them off the track! And what a gutsy ride! Takes pretty big you-know-whats to push a horse through a hole that small right along the rail, one little bump & your history!!! (Ask Shelley, she used to ride) You have to really know your horse can turn it on to do that, & boy-oh-boy did he ever! Woo-hoo! And what a story! The trainer drove 21 hours, pulling the horse in a trailer behind his pickup truck, with his right foot in a cast from a motorcycle accident that shattered 11 bones in his ankle, paid $9500.00 for the colt as a yearling! They'll be making a movie about this one, if they're smart! What story! And yup, no injuries.....what a race! jackie harris

Believe it the Daily Racing Form gave this horse a legitimate SHOT. His 8 races produced 4 wins and a second and his jockey Calvin Borel knows the Kentucky tracks very well.

50 to 1 odds.  Gotta love the Kentucky Derby!  Such an excellent ride.  Seems like it was won on heart bc horse was to small, to cheap, and got squeezed right out of the shoot.  Ha Ha  I think we are looking at Seabiscuit of modern times.  The jockey was absolutely fantastic and rode that little pony's heart all the way home!!!  YIPPPIE!!!!
