Keith Grossman

by Keith Grossman on 04 July 2010 - 21:07

"A very good friiend of mine here in Maryland is expecting a litter this week out of Ricco von der Zenteiche ( a Vegas son) and Jambi vom Mittelwest (Sirio della Real Favorita daughter). Puppies are expected to have beautiful rich color and pigment and outstanding temperment."

This is a repeat breeding of the pair that produced my pup, Axel; should be a very nice litter indeed.

VA-Shicco vd Freiheit Westerholt  is looking better and better IMHO.  Saw video and pictures of him when he was just 2 and have been watching.  Gawd, Chris, I wish I had the $$ to show I'd jump up ta the top of the line to get one of his kids from your dogs!!   The OP would do well to get on that list if he/she is looking for something very very very special.   Would take bets that Shicco will go Seiger in the next couple of years.  Nice also because he's not the carbon copy pedigree of most winning show line dogs.  Best of luck with them.

Thanks, but I never count my chickens until they hatch, lol. We have planned this breeding for a while and geographics are in my favor. My girl Penny is close to where Shicco is but he is popular. If her heat cycle coincides with  his show schedule or other commitments, I will be out of luck. I had that happen several times in the past. It taught me to be careful.
I do agree with your opinion of Shicco. He is not the typical showline male and had caught my eye when I saw him in person at a regular show in Germany last year when my black female was shown for her V-rating. I am a real fan of the Nero Noebachtal line and Shicco brings Pakros into it as well, a line which I previously had not used at all.
So, let's hope that this breeding will happen as planned.

I want to thank all of you who offerred recommendations of trustworthy breeders, I shall pass the info to my friend who is a newbie in the GSD world then it is upto him what he shall decide, to me those you recommended are the fine ones he should go to.

gck is a WDA board member and I have seen her dogs up close at shows. I would not hesitate to take her word on a dog. Gorbi looked great in Ky. and showed very good character.

I personally visited Silbersee Kennels and purchased a pup from them. He was VP1, VP1 and VP2, in his first 3 shows, in very stiff international competition. He was just as Chris described him to me.  In 25 years of experience with the GSD, he is the only male pup I have ever bought. Also, Joe was very honest with me on another dog that I inquired about.

There are many good and honest breeders here in the U.S. This is just the ones I have experience with.

Good luck in your search,

Rik Atchley

Chris, who are you breeding Gina to next?

Silbersee

by Silbersee on 06 July 2010 - 18:07

Kelly,
Gina is currently expecting (hopefully - only 22 days along but is filling out already), finally after almost 2 years. We did something crazy just for ourselves and bred her to our black boy Onyx. I have always stated that I wanted to try another working and showline mix again with the right dogs, and Gina is the right one in my opinion. And Onyx is just super!
So, wish me luck that there is this one dark sable girl in there for me who will live up to her parents' expectations - with her mother's structure, gait and drive and her sire's calm working ability and bone. Almost too much to hope for but I can sure try.

That's right Keith! Should be a super nice litter, as Ricco is producing himself consistently. Six girls and one boy were born Monday night. How is Axel doing these days? Would LOVE to see some recent pics- I have a 2 week old boy from him right now, a monster! :-) Theresa
