I had been feeding eggs for my dogs from 2x to 3x a week for many years and I feed it natural, I mean it is not cooked or microwaved, and never had a problem, the coat looks good and the dogs love it. I had seem people talking about salmonela, yet as I was never afected in all those years, I realy think it is a good idea and I am keeping doing that. I give it mixed with raw food, to make it taste better! I take the dish rigth when the dogs eat, so if they left anything it wont bring any problem.

I was reading on another site about giving eggs in the shell. At first I was wondering why you would give the shells but then DUH hit me out in the wild no one peels the eggs for them. I guess the same could go for boiling or cooking too. I have started giving them 2 a week and boy, they love them. Now heres a new one I just heard about "Coconut helps firm up poop!!!!" and helps coat. HAs anyone heard this too?

Jose, You are right. Raw eggs 3 times a week is okay. It's the egg white that binds with biotin so don't feed them whole eggs daily. I feed my dogs the yolks every day as I use the whites for myself as a kidney ailment keeps me away from the yolks. Egg shells are good source of calcium carbonate and good for dogs that don't have a chance to eat bones. Birdy...

I hadnt use the shells, but I will try. Thanks.

Jose-- The whole egg is a perfect blend of the calcium/phosphorus ratio, (shell and inside). My dog is also supplemented with Vitamin B complex, which contains biotin. He, daily, gets 1 medium egg and 1/2 the shell, plus 35 mg of vitamin B Complex (which also helps combat any stress problems). If you're not going to supplement with biotin, take out the eggwhites every other feeding. The vitamin B Capsule is opened, and the amount is divided and added to his 2 daily meals. You want the vitamin B in both meals, not all in one.

Jose-- Sorry. I forgot to say, raw egg. I started giving my youngest shepherd the egg as part of a supplementation regiment to help build his immunity. So far, so good.

Thanks LMH, i will start to suplement with vitamin B, and give 1/2 the shell.

Jose-- Remember to read the label on the B COMPLEX bottle and see that it contains 'biotin'.
