"im saying that there are lots of dog that could not pass a sch3 if the odds are not stacked in thier favor. And those dogs should not share the same company or title as dogs that can go to a trial 8hrs away and pass w/ out ever being on the field, dogs that will engage the strongest of helpers, dogs that are able to handle stress and still perform."
and theses dogs you mention are the ones you wont see at the regional or national events.
"So IMO, the sch3 should be earned on a strange field w/ a strange helper. a field and helper you do not have access too. IF a dog can not handle the stress of being somewhere new then it doesnt deserve a sch3."
or maybe would could create a SchH 4?
with all the other sports that take people and dogs away from schutzhund (psa, ring, yadda yadda yadda) i feel there is no way they are going to make things harder to earn a 3. should they, yes. will they, no. we have done away with the attack out of the blind, except for the korung, and there has been talk for some time about taking out the courage test. i wonder why that is?

speaknow-
as soon as we bring breeding and selling into the picture we go from schutzhund folks to marketing a sales people. If my goal is to sell puppies then i would go w. the sch3 from the VA sired male. since most folks sill be impressed by the title and the VA sire i can charge an arm and leg.
but if was looking for a dog for my self then it would be dog "A". ive only had one litter of puppies and there were only 2 pups in the litter. after doing that i have no desire to raise a litter. i prefer to just train and show.
i think when it comes to breeding there are 2 types of breeders, those that breed to sell pups. which means they must breed and market their pups to the public. and those that breed for themselves. the latter folks i think tend to breed the best candidate not he best resume.
just my 2 cents

Reading and thinking about this thread made me think of the following passage:
v. Stephaniz - German Shepherd Dog in Word & Picture 1925
"We have already agreed that our shepherd dog is a service dog, and that he must only be bred as a service dog. He must therefore, and the points of the race equally demand this, only be judged as a service dog. With service dogs, suitability ranks higher than beauty: indeed their real beauty and their only nobility (for their aristocracy is one of service), consist in their complete adaptability in the arrangement, the balancing and the coalescense of each and every part."
The apple is falling farther and farther from the tree. It is very sad.
