A: PRV is primarily spread through direct animal-to-animal (or nose-to-nose) contact between an
infected and shedding pig and a noninfected pig. If present on inanimate objects, such as boots,
clothing, feed, trucks, and equipment, the virus can also spread from herd to herd and farm to
farm.
It says nothing about transmision by digestion. You have a better chance bringing it home on your shoes than your dog getting it from pork meat. It also can spread to cattle, goats and more animals so really why the fear or pork products? Sounds irrational to me.
