IF, after you request medical info, than communication stops, then that person becomes suspect, with their claims.
The only thing tha is crappy now is that you have this person making false claims about you (and I DO believe these to be false).
BTW- your dogs look lovely...

I'm quite mystified as to how allenf believes a POLYGENIC trait is so easily routed out of the breed just by naming the sire and dam of an affected animal...does he really think that once those names are publicized, anyone with breeding stock that is of any relation to those two animals will immediately stop using any of them for breeding? 'Cause if that were to happen, there would be no GSDs from this point forward....

I don't have Ettinger's 1994 textbook at hand, but have a feeling that the wikipedia arcticle may have misquoted the book, and the misquote is being reproduce by aakay.
A slightly more recent article that cites Ettinger (1995, which is probably the same edition as that cited in wikipedia) states:
Note the words "While this is an inherited defect..."While this in an inherited defect, environmental factors such as diet, activity, and trauma also have a role in the development and progression of the disease.
The article goes on to state:
http://ic.upei.ca/cidd/disorder/elbow-dysplasia-ocd-elbowDo not breed affected dogs, or dogs which produce offspring with elbow dysplasia.
Hopefully, anyone in the market for a GSD puppy will heed this advice.
Here is a video of a dog suffering the symtoms of ED:
http://youtu.be/Xx5H9xMO_vY
joanro (AKA dogsLTD on youtube) claims there was an issue with a "fractured elbow", and various other unsubstantiated allegations.
Elswhere, the owner says the dog had a Fractured [sic, Fragmented] Coronoid Process (that is, inherited ED).

Looking at the video, you need to ask yourself, "Is it worth the risk?" when those risks can be reduced by responsible breeding.
Gustav, I didn't think you were as knowledgable about the breed as you seem to think you are. I'm so glad you're learning things. Don't choke on that pet rock. LMAO!

also how do we know this dog in particular has ED or spinal problems the owner is refuzing xrays. my requirement is i get a copy of the xray to send in to ofa or my vets evaluation to determine regardless if the owner send it in to ofa i need copys or no replacement or refund will ever even be talked about. i had a puppy out of my first litter their vet told her the puppy had HD at 6 months old i was devistated but didnt like the 6 month calling out hd turns out the puppy OFAed excellent but had pano their vet just wanted the money for the treatments ie water therapy and acupuncture they had convinced the person to get for their dog or she wouldent be walking by two.
Joanro i would say no to replacement or refund with out them showing you the xrays to me it sounds like they just want to get a breeding dog for free. or a dog to sell because they need to make a payment a person who is truely worried about their dog would cooperate with you and try to come to a conclusion
