Race is an element..for Blacks predominately, Not Whites in this election. Polls evidence that. I think the whites that oppose Obama do so because of his Socialist views & lack of credentials, not his color. Unlike Black supporters of Obama, who dont concern themselves with his views, just his color & keepin it real, as he's a brutha.

You're correct, that's his name. I'm sure if it really were Steve, no one would even know that. The only reason it's even used by the McCain camp  is because it conjores up visions of a person who is an enemy of the state and who is unAmerican. In today's volatile environment, IMO the less that is done to incite the homegrown loonies to do something hideous and unspeakable, the better. The use of his middle  name IMO is used with the intent to create a hostile and fearful atmosphere.  Haven't we had enough of that sort of behavior by now?

If BOTH parties subscribed to that thought, yes.  That said, consider the treatment the Democrats, aided by the media, meted out to Senator George Allen, when it looked like he would have been a very strong choice to be the Republican candidate.

George Allen's MOTHER was hounded unmercifully, because she was, wait for it now, OF JEWISH ANCESTRY.  Mrs Allen who was of the generation that saw the Holocaust, tried to hide this fact, because she was afraid.  This was HER choice, HER privacy.  But the press, most of whom are staunch Democrats, made that good woman's life a living hell.  Her son tried desperately to protect her and lost the election for Virginia's senate seat.

Saul Alinsky wrote, in his Rules for Radicals, the following:

[Make opponents live up to their own book of rules. “You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.”]

The Democrats, and a lot of well-meaning people, want both sides to play fair, but until they recognize the despicable acts of Democrats, in their fight for power, you cannot expect civility.
