And you are mocking working dogs and sport dogs by posting a website that infers they are all abused.

KCzaja, cute pix. i was not going to post, as i know absolutely nothing about schutzhund. i am just a pet person with a german showline girl.
i have been called mean by some local people, for jerking back on her choke collar after she almost yanked me off my feet going downhill, and soon after that, i switched to gentle leaders for both dogs, and one night a guy came up and started talking to them and petting them. i yanked on the leashes and he said, you know you don't have to be so mean to them.
this was on gentle leaders that did not tighten around the neck or tighten anywhere!
where i live you're expected to be nice nice nice all the time.
i think i am good to my dogs, they always have food, get lots of exercise and playtime, regular baths, flea and tick preventative, etc, but you just can't please some people.
i took care of a friend's dog once, and he growled at me every time i went near his crate. some people would call what i did to him mean, but once we had our little understanding, he never growled at me again and we got along great. i was sad to see him go.
the dog whisperer rocks!

KCzaja you are too funny.......................first of all, Miss Maggie if you read all the article--which by the way I did not because I don' need to---you will see the first date mentioned is 1981--lots of changes since then in dog training.  I believe that was when Bill Koehler was so popular.  Secondly she refers to ScH and K9 work as one and the same and hereis the kicker--she deduced.  Yes she uses DEDUCED right in the 3rd or 4th paragraph of the article. In case you don't know what that means it means putting 2 and 2 together to form your own conclusion which is nothing more than her own opinion.  The whole article is crap.................but if you read it on the internet then it must be true.  NOT.  Those who know me know I don't train in ScH anymore but I am formerly a member of USA, a regional Dallas club and a PP club located in Ft. Worth.  And IF I wanted to send any of my dogs off to be titled I want tha right.  What I suggest for you to do is what others have suggested go to a club and see what really goes on before making outlandish statemens based on your ignorance.  Since you seem to have no interest in that nd learning about the breed and the TRUTH my next suggestion would be for you to find a sandbox and play with people on your level--those who don't know anything and don't want to know anything.

Oops I forgot to add--in answer to your ?? about taking a hard dog to aclub.  Back to ignorance--yes I would because ScH is about control not craze.

There yo go showing your ignorance again.  Excuse me but I don't think it was mentioned to take a hard K9 to a club.  Most deprtments have their own clubs and do their own training because there is a diff between ScH and K9 work.  I believe what was mentioned was a hard handler aggressive dog.

Maggs go to a club or don't.  If you don't like schutzhund, great.  I feel like we are talking to a rock, nothing gets through to you.

I never said you used the word "all", what I said was, "And you are mocking working dogs and sport dogs by posting a website that infers they are all abused."

Are you even trying to absorb what peole like Slamdunc, who have real experience, are trying to tell you, or they just nailing jello to a tree? My experiences with aggression do not come from dogs who are being made sport/work dogs, but from regular people who buy a dog (any breed) who grows up to be a beast, and by the time they realize what they have, they love the dog and want to make it work. So there is the "why" from my perspective, just to be clear.

And yes, I am a smartass. It's more worthwhile than trying to explain anything to you, at least some of the knowledgeable people may get a smile out of it.

You said," It (schutzhund)appears to be more for the Owner's benefit and their entertainment (and for the $$ it may bring from winning) than anything that is beneficial for the dog "  "Now I know that people will say this is not "aggression" but is prey drive. Again, it all goes back to Schutzhund -- all that damn biting....I still say it is all about Owner's ego and entertainment. "

How about you tell that young lady in the photos that she is training her dog for "ego and entertainment".  Or tell it to the remarkable gentleman who titled his dog from a wheelchair.  While we're at it, someone tell me where they hid the big "$$" I was supposed to be making!
