Jenni, what fun pics!  Now, there's a dog I could hang with!

I know a girl with a Pit who "smiles" on command.

Troublelinx... I see what you mean but I disagree. I think your dog sounds like the typical unbalanced GSD we are starting to see as a result of improper emphasis on characteristics we're breeding for. JMO. I'm not saying it was all the dog's fault; I'm sure however he was brought up had to do w/your incident, but saying it was your fault and you should've played "two ball" is making an excuse for probable unbalanced temperament. Without being there to see it firsthand, I won't say for sure, but don't blame yourself entirely.

A Pit needs to have different temperament than a GSD; they are very different dogs.  A Pit who kills a human is not a correct Pit. If we'd dish out a few more bullets to those deserving (in all breeds) we would have sounder dogs. This philosophy of save every dog whether it's a piece of shit or not is NOT doing ANY of the breeds any favors. It also allows poor breeding practices to continue because it gives people an "out."  If people held dogs to the standard, and stopped making excuses and started taking responsibility, things would turn around- they'd have to.

Maggie- Simon requests a photo of you.

You're posting what is essentially nothing but hearsay and it never dawns on you that perhaps you don't have the whole story, and you're exactly the type bandwagon passsenger that the media loves to prey on and use to perpetuate these ridiculous stories, bans, public image, etc. I have some Kool Aid for you later....but you probably have no idea what I'm alluding to there either.................................

The only story I have is what was said on our local news.  This being a GSD forum,  you would think that most of us Love the GSD.  Kind of thought that it would be just something to post on what happened.   I was also hoping someone would non defensively shed some light on why all the stories that you mostly hear about is the pit bull.  If you like pit bulls, then that's is great.  But just becuase someone would not own one does not make them a stuip person.   That is my choice.  I for one of the most gentle GSD.  She is very well socialized, has had personal trainers and is very trusting.  She is great with other dogs.   The only time she will growl is when someone knocks on the door and she door lunges.  Wow, but as soon as that person comes in the house she is bringing them her toys and giving kisses.     I rarely go on vacation, when I did, we went  to disney and we had a house sitter and guess what..... they were unharmed.

Don't group me in with the shit starters on this board; vehement defense of what's right and true, I'm guilty of. I have never, nor will I ever, simply set out to be cruel to someone undeserving. Quit crying and playing victim; YOU started this thread...for what purpose???

How would you know what I deserve.. You don't know me from Adam...  You know nothing about me.  I'm not playing victim.  I just simply won't stand by and let someone chew me up because you think you are better.  You might know more about different breeds, the APBT, GSD or whatevery else.  I know what a GSD can be capable of.  I also know what we did with my dog.  We had her socialized from 6 weeks of age and on.  I knew I had to.    I picked a breed, educated myself on that breed.    I really don't think the local news was making this story up.   But, you can think whatever you want about me or the few times I even start a thread.. I for one will not loose any sleep.

Thanks, all. He's super fun. Such a nice contrast to the GSDs. In the ladder picture he's trying to show me that he can do everything the GSDs can do. I didn't teach him to do that; he watched Caleb.

Travels, that's cute! I had an old Chihuahua who smiled like that too. It's a little creepy but really funny.

Buckeye...I think he was watching the horses. It was warm so they were feeling frisky. He was very far away from me; I had the really long zoom lens on for those. I could hardly see him w/out the camera so I can't be sure what he was looking at.

Yeah, I had his ears done. He had terrible ears. He had really long, paper-thin ears that he kept tearing w/his antics and rough play. I didn't want a Pit w/scarred up ears. I had them do more of a Staff show crop though than the typical battle crop you see a lot of.
