As to the Agility question (not that I ever questioned it because I KNOW APBT'S are quite athletic). I hid Goobers ball about 5 1/2 feet high in a tree today at the park. I got him out, we searched the picnic area where he jumps over, through, around the picnic tables, over the guard rails, searched the line of rail then took of like bat outta heck towards the tree (he was leashed) where he started barking and jumping all around the tree. I said the magic words "Show me" and the bugger jumped into the freaking tree and came down with the ball in his mouth!!!! I LOVE THIS DOG!!!! I kills me that I can't get any PD's/Customs/Military interested in him. He could even be an active companion for an experienced owner.

As great as I think this boy is for detection work, I do NOT think he could handle the pressure of Patrol Work nor a hard handler. He has learned R-E-S-P-E-C-T since he arrive (used to jump up and into your face when excited) but if someone over handled him or man handled him I don't think he could handle the pressure. But as a Single Purpose dog, I think this dog is one who could carry a mediocur handler through a class with a good instructor.

And he is a HUGE swimmer, LOVES the water and will jump from the dock!

I personally do not know exactly what it takes for a dog to do military work.  However I curently own a gsd and a pit bull.  On the averalg the pit is a much better working dog.  You can buy any pit bull from any byb for $300 and it will work no problem.  try doing this with a gsd.  You must be much more selective when looking for a good gsd.

The image of the working line dogs is important in my opinion.  I dont think that the image of the pit has the same effect.

As far as dog aggresion goes all breeds have their aggressive ones.  but when a pit is naturally agressive and good at what they do their is simlpy no comparison with a dog agressive gsd.

And I wonder why anyone would think the pit is not athletic.  This may be because people are breeding them to be 120pound dogs by mixing them with all sorts of other bully breeds like american bulldogs and still calling them a pit.  The pit should be I would guess 40 to 70 pounds.  In this weight range they are athletic.
