Alabama K9 is a wonderful kennel. We have 2 small children and a 4 year old Schnauzer. Marlene Wiggins' experience and understanding of her dogs helped us pick the right puppy for our family. She had the mother and the father on site for us and even did demonstrations for us. Our children were able to play with the big dogs, as well as the puppies safely for 2 hours while my husband and I made our decision. We were never made to feel unwelcome or as if we had to hurry. (Other than to feed the kids) As a result, we wound up with an amazing puppy, and a wonderful experience for our family. We will be going to Marlene again when we decide on our next puppy. I almost forgot to mention, we were not sure how our dog would react to the puppy, and Marlene allowed us to take the puppy for a week (with her papers) to see how things would go and offered to meet us half way if we needed to return her. It took a huge leap of faith for Marlene to let us take a puppy with only a few hours of watching us interact with her dogs/puppies, and our promise that we would keep the puppy safe no matter what while we had her. I would most definately recommend this kennel. They all truly care for their dogs. http://alabamak9.com/site/ Sincerely, CJ Marshall

I recommend a new hobby-breeder as a great helper and super caring for the breed of shepherds. She is in Northern Virginia and I got her through an other breeders webside. She is a German and has just started to sell her own litter for the first time. Before that there was an other breeder she trusted but got cheated! She has a long webside name. "www.germanshepherdsvomnordseestrand" I got my pup from her and can only say tremendous he is the son of Zidan vom Grabfeldgau.I am going to enter him in to the Sieger-Schau Baby Puppy Class Connecticut to see his potentials. I am a owner of German Shepherds which I imported from Germany I have connections to a great breeder he is the one I send the picture too to get his opinion and he told me to go ahead despite the fact he wanted to get me a male this summer. LOL So this is for the newer not so known breeders I believe we need to get them more in to the focus lines on this data base as well. To know there are some great breeders here in USA there are as good or better?? Thanks to Vom Nordseestrand. Maxin

I just want to thank everyone for this thread! I am a newbie looking for a pup and this is some of the best info I have seen on this site-THANKS!!! The breeder that I have been trying to work with takes days to answer my questions due to her extremely busy work schedule, and has not produced a pic of the sire that she used. I am frustrated and sad-she came very highly recommended and I believe she is, but she is just too busy with her two other businesses that she has. No ill will, but this is not what I expected my first time out trying to get a very well bred GSD! Keep this thread alive!

Sorry, I was in a rush at the time. Actually, I'm having awesome experiences with Marcy Blank from Landschaft Kennel in Illinois! Very honest and caring - if she doesn't have what you're looking for, she will contact other top kennels in Germany, Belgium or Denmark to try to get you the type of dog you're looking for. I definetly recommend them. I would also highly recommend Tim & Chris Wild from Wildhaus Kennel in Michigan. A "hobby" breeder that does not make a living off her dogs and puppies, as she only breeds one or two (sometimes three) litters a year. Breeds only top quality European working line dogs. They only breed dogs with proven working ability, superb nerves and temperament, excellent health and a sound physical structure. Very nice, kind people that know very much about the GSD breed and will try their best to answer any questions you may have. ~Lauren

Hello Molly. Thanks for tatooing my pup. I went to your side Molly you seem to be a hard worker and lover of the breed. You are so right Molly I was lucky to get him.I did reserve him before he was born. A good friend of mine did phone Ute and maybe she is going to breed Ike again this fall he wants a male too from Zidan. Well got to go my pup wants my attention.

Marcy is a great gal and a wonderful breeder, has been for decades. She's had some awesome dgs over the years. Of course I am partial to her Arolser Holz dogs... LOL! Dean imported my beloved Onyx 'way back when. He gets fabulous dogs, always has. You couldn't find a more knowledgeable person in this country. A lot of what I post on this board I learned from Dean. There's even a credit on my "About Shelley" page on my website, thanking Dean for all those years of tolerating me. LOL SS

After many weeks of lurking, talking to many wonderful breeders and getting over my leerness of purchasing a puppy site unseen I ended up having a wonderful experience and getting a puppy from Shelly Strohl of http://www.frauengarten.net/. Shelley is an honest and wonderful person to deal. I told her exactly the kind of dog I was looking for and she told me about the one she thought would match our family. She sent pictures and referrals (specifically from this pup's litter-mates' new owners) immediately upon request . All her referrals had wonderful things to say about Shelley and how much they love their puppy. We received our puppy Saturday. She came out of her crate bouncing and confident. She has already attached herself to my daughters following them everywhere. That is exactly what I wanted for our family. First and foremost a wonderful dog for my children, family companion and yes, if I want to utilize the potential this puppy has I can. Thank you Shelley for a wonderful puppy!!!!
