And I will ask again how many members are there in the usca? How many actually belong to clubs? So realistically how many members paying dues and fees get a say in how this organization is going?

I don't know the answer to your question off the top of my head.

Unknown,

I would say you are correct. Those that are USA members are unaffected by the JA and probably don't make much noise about it. That leaves two groups of people out there. WDA and GSDCA (competing club) members that want to participate at the National level as other levels can be entered without membership or USA registration. The other group would be those with a bad taste in their mouth that may want to return if the bad taste goes away. So it makes sense that most of the complaints are coming from WDA members as the ones complaining are probably the ones that were somewhat forced out, excluded, or whatever you want to call it.

Here's where USA has a golden opportunity should they decide to capitalize upon it. Those bitchy, pissy moaney, WDA members who were once most likely USA members are probably pissing and moaning because they want to return. They want to be able to belong to and support both clubs as they most likely once did. They want the complex, misunderstood, often misinterpreted, ever changing rules to enter to be simple again so they can actually fill out an entry from without having a lawyer do it for them. They want to be able to go to the closest show or trial and feel welcome. They just want to make something that really never made sense go away so the breed has a chance to prosper.

Who wins? USA is able to receive the benefit from the opportunity for membership, registration fees, increased entries, etc. All the income lost as a result of changing the rules to circumvent the JA can be reinstated. The people win too. Easier to enter without complex rules, less distance to travel. More opportunity to show/trial. Clubs have a more profitable event.

Randy (Dog1):

I am all for being inclusive since that benefits everyone.....but I have to mention something I learned long ago ....... every organization is best served when it decides who it wishes to serve... and I have the feeling that no one wants to serve anyone who is "bitchy, pissy and moaney"...... and usually those kind of people tend to remain that way no matter what their circumstances.

I have found that most dog folks are very pragmatic adults who know exactly what they want and usually stick to acheiving it..... the WDA has sopme very good people and I for one have a healthy respect for them. But USCA continues to be the only GSD organization that gives me the depth of programs and opportunities to develop all GSD's..... whether showline or workingline..... to their fullest potential. In fact even WDA's star WUSV Univ Sieger team consistently developed their abilities only at USCA member training facilities and clubs in New Hampshire and New Jersey.

So you have to forgive me when I say that the argument for moving very far from USCA is rather weak....

If the GSDCA-WDA has gotten such a large boost as was stated at the begining of the thread why arenyt they providing those in there orginization more triialing and showing oppertunities that there growth should permit?

Any motion or rule that serves to divide a like minded group of people is never a good thing.  I'm sure someone will take exception to the term "like minded" but it was said in view of the fact that we all love the same breed and as individuals we are all entitled to our own goals and opinions about the breed.  I don't consider myself "pissy or bitchy" but when push comes to shove I'll leave an organization that limits my freedom of choice.  Last time I checked we still have freedom to choose in this country.

Instead of splintering people both organizations need to reposture and work together for a common goal and bring people together instead of doing the opposite.  I would like to support both groups but apparently USCA doesn't feel that my support is important.

Excellent Judy! I agree totally. The members have recently spoken with their votes, so time will tell if there is a desire for change.

Wow. This is a lot of information that I have not gotten before. Unknown, you seem to have a ton of information and I would like to ask you to find out how many members are in the USCA organization and how many of those members are in some sort of a club. Just a way to project how accurate the vote is that is driving the direction of the organization.
Dog 1 I think i enjoy reading your stuff more than most and would like to know if this organization is bilking money raised by show events to support the   other events for ?national/ working events?
Look forward to both of you coming back with answers.

I completely agree with you Judy. I am a GSDCA -WDA member and I will show my dogs at UScA Sieger Show. After all, I will do what is the best for my dogs. It doesn't matter, which organization I will belong to.
If I have to go China and join their German Shepherd Club, I will if my dogs will need me to. But I refuse to let anyone tell me how and where I can spend my money.

You can all cry about GSCDA and AKC and not supporting them financially.... but is GSDCA going to change my breeding program or training methods? Of course not, I still do what's best for my dogs!
And all of you breeders will still send checks to AKC and support them financially because you have no other choice!
And a lot of UScA members will still participate in GSDCA -WDA events because it will benefit their dog.

Talking about, which playground is better is getting old....
It is what it is. Adjust and learn how to live with it.
