Jen - I think that someone who would breed a dog in that condition (as represented in the pic with the ad) would just be looking at the dollars in their hands and not really care where they came from.

I do not know the rules about taking dogs into a rescue but hope they work in favor of this girl.

You may be right. I thought about that, but then I also thought he might get spooked by anyone other than a breeder buying her. I'd sure be nervous as hell if I had a dog that looked like that!!!

I know the owner of banks haus kennel.
Can speak to him if the group wants.

"I had a woman email me and offer. I have no reason to suspect she is anything but the kind-hearted person she appears to be, but I need to be 100% honest with all potential donors that I don't know her AT ALL. I have never heard of her. She said she has a couple friends who are older women who would take 1-2 pups each as companions, assuming this old girl will likely only have 3-4."

"I can't think of much of a motive anyone would have for wanting this girl besides pure kindness and sympathy"

No reason or motive at all! Why I know dozens of older women who are just dying to take in 1-2 GSD pups as companions. They've been waiting all their lives for such a great opportunity. And heck, never mind that the dog had 8 pups (down to 7 after 1 was lost) in her last litter. Let's just assume she'll conveniently have only 3-4 this time.

What a tidy little profit the 6-8+ pups will be for a totally unknown "kind-hearted person" who kills the dog if she is no longer breedable after this litter and sells the pups for $1000+ on craig's list or the local papers.

Were you really going to dump this poor dog on a total stranger?

If you are going to rescue a dog, then RESCUE her. This means taking responsibility for the dog until you decide to keep her forever or you find her a good home with people you personally know.

The dog has only 5 more days--if she doesn't sell by the 25th the owner is keeping her so he can sell the puppies.

After 5 more days of dithering, it will be too late for this dog, won't it?

And no, I don't run a rescue organization and I don't have the space for this poor dog. If I did, I would simply buy her and solve her problem that way.

This is my only post on this. I have dogs to train and take care of.

Very convenient to talk shit, ASSume no one had vetted the person, and then say you won't post back. . I was simply being honest and admitting I don't know her personally.

I wouldn't feel comfortable with her going to someone no one knows either.... kinda have to agree with JonRob on that one, but I'm pretty skeptical about people anyway.

One more post, and not to waste time arguing. If you think that poor dog's misery is recent, scroll down to the April 22, 2012 photo of the same dog at:

Misery and fear are evident in many of the other dogs as well, especially the females. Check out the other facebook photos and those at:

A couple years ago when we had an opening for a dog, we tried to buy one of his advertised dogs solely because of the anguish on her face. She had already been sold, apparently to a hellhole.

Surely someone reading this has the space, money, and willingness to get off their ass needed to buy this poor dog and save her from more hell.

Lots of critical talk with no action. JonRob, you don't know about the private communications going on in attempt to make sure this girl lands in a good place. I guess I was wrong to state clearly that I have not met someone in Cali in person in order to thoroughly vet them. Am I supposed to do a home visit? If I could do that, I could go get her myself. Doing the best we can, here. I haven't seen you offer a lot of help. Criticizing the efforts of others WITHOUT all the info is not constructive and is not helping Sasha.

If you read the whole thread, you'd see we are ALL aware this has been going on for quite some time!!! It has already been discussed. Please inform yourself prior to taking such an indignant tone with the rest of us. That's why I've spent quite a bit of time the past couple days trying to vet people who may be willing to help her. With all due respect, perhaps my desire to keep a kind-hearted person anonymous meant that I left out a lot of information that might make you feel better.

FWIW, this is a person who is very low-key, all the time, not just now. She was one of the first to jump in and help Jackie when I set that up, too. Not sure what motive she'd have had then. She isn't a big forum poster, but that doesn't make her desire to help any less genuine.

It's out of my hands- I have passed on the information to the parties close enough to actually check each other out and help. If you would like to pay for the dog, JonRob, I will accept her, if you trust me more. But, I don't think shipping, unless necessary, is in her best interest. JMO.

Oh, if she's been around that's another story entirely.

It's crunch time though, has anything been decided?

Jenni78

by Jenni78 on 21 November 2016 - 03:11

Yes, she has "been around" since 2004, here. I said I had never heard of her, meaning her kennel name (very small breeder) and didn't "know" her personally because I want to be 100% honest when money is concerned and the well-being of a dog is at stake. Jyl and I have both been in contact and all seems ok. We are doing the best we can.

We are working on the driving and how to get the money fast enough to pay the seller in time to get her out of there. Jyl will post shortly.
