GARD, First of all, I (we) are just a person with an opinion, like you, no more and no less.

Secondly, without "opinions" on this web site, what exactly would we have?  Just "you" telling us what is and what isn't?

Third, I and I assume many others, could give a shit what the rest of the world cares about me or us (read, the U.S.)  Just as I am sure that the person in Turkey that owns this dog, could care less what little old me (us) thinks about his tieing out the dog.  Just so you know, I don't have a problem with tieing out a dog.  The dog could normally run free and was tied up for the picture for all we know, or could just be tied up for an hour or so, while the goats from the neighbors property are walking past.  There could be dozens of legimitate reasons.  Not that tieing out a dog 24/7 is all that bad.  It depends on the individuals situation.  This dog could be a fence jumper or climber, fence digger underer (is that a word), or a couple of other dog Houdini thingy's.

Fourthly, just who do you think you are, telling us to be quiet, be more polite to the rest of the world, be more in line with YOUR thinking?

Fifthly (is there such a word?).  Talk about an Ego trip.  We are all full of crap, idiots, and you have been sent here to straighten us out.  Hmmm, does that about sum it up?

Lastly (I actually could go on and on, but why bother).  What would you do if you had your TV remote in your hand and while surfing the cable channels, came up on a TV show that you did not like?  Well, do that same thing here.  Change the frikin channel!

I have lived and worked in many third world countries and. trust me, this dog is living the good life compared to most. At least he does not have his den in a roadside ditch and eating roadkill.  Many dogs in these countries do.

I think that since I have been here, for the most part, I have been polite in giving my opinion; courteous and open to others. I always try to be helpful to others with questions in areas where I have knowledge, training, and experience. This is my key point. Knowledge, training, and experience. You can say my ego is big (your not the first one) but when it comes to bitework dogs and training, I have a bookshelf full of trophies and framed titles hanging on my wall.

How is see myself different from many here is I do not assume that I am all knowing. I do not offer opinion or tell people what to do with show dogs. I don't know anything about showing, stacking, gait, etc. In such, I do not attempt to tell people how they should do things. I know nothing about herding. When it comes to threads about herding, I keep my mouth shut and my ears open so I may learn something. I also do not presume to be so gifted as to judge another persons actions without knowing the person or the facts.

My opinion is we are talking on an open forum that is read around the world. I feel this carries some level of responsibility. What we write here may or may not influence others. By choosing to post here we are seen as a reflection of the GSD breed, our countries, and dog sports. You may not see it this way; I do. When people spout crap I feel is detrimental to a breed or dog sport, I Will call them out. If someone is giving poor or misleading "advice" to someone new, i Will call them out. I will call out someone posing as a police officer, I will call someone out giving advice about bitework that can be dangerous, I will call someone out if they spewing racist bullshit. I guess this is how I choose to don my Superman cape and "save the world".

I try to be diplomatic to other opinion. There is nothing wrong with an opinion. There is something wrong with people telling other people how wrong they are or bad they are. Especially when they themselves know nothing about the topic or circumstances. I do not post pictures or video for the sole purpose of telling people how great a person I am because I treat my animals so well. I do not take up the cause and condem people to proove how good a person I am.

You can say I have an ego, but my ego is not so big as to presume I have the knowledge to offer an "opinion" when I do not, nor do I presume that I am any "better" than anyone else.

GARD:  I am really confused now.  There are so many things that you said, that are exactly what I said to you, and you took issue with them.  I am not going to parce and paste quotes here as is so often done, dissecting each quote and explaining why it is wrong or how you are saying the same thing I said, with different words.

Suffice it to say that this was about a photo of a dog tied to a pole in Turkey.  The conversation turned to politics and religion.  Then you came on here and chastised us all for our discussion about religion and politics.  When discussing religion and politics, there is nothing but opinions.  No hard and fast facts.  I and some others on here were having a discussion that you thought was "innapropriate" for persons from other countries to read, to "hear" what some of us Americans think.

I am usually a quiet and polite person, and, like you, give opinions on what I have some knowledge on, and not on what I am guessing.  You apparently did not want to "change the channel" and watch a different show, but chose to watch this one, because, if I understood you correctly, you felt that we Americans, were presenting ourselves to the others from around the world reading this, as bad peoples, in many ways.  That really burns me, and I am going to go off in a tangent, ignoring all of our "other" disagreements.

Everyone wants to be liked by everyone else initially, then you learn that no matter what you do, unless you bow down and worship them, some will hate you forever, so forget them.  The U.S. has done much, much, more than it's share for the rest of the world.  We have spent Zillions (that's a Z there folks), helping other countries.  The U. S. has given thousands of American lives in defending other countries from those that want to conqueror them, or just plain annilliate them from existence.  The U. S. has fought wars against peoples that have attacked us, and then instead of "owning them", has helped them rebuild, better than they ever were, instead of just kicking them when they were down.  The U. S. has bent over backwards and kissed the asses of many peoples, just trying to "look" good to the rest of the world, and trying to keep the peace.  Just today, our President has offered the Palestinians 80 million dollars for their security.  Now think about that folks.  Can't you see how that is going to turn out.  We gave millions of dollars worth of weapons and related things, to Usoma (the correct name of Osama) Bin Laden, for him and his people to fight against the Soviet Union.  Now, look who took down our World Trade Center Towers and has attempted to blow up many more planes full of people, along with several other large scale operations aimed at killing.  Yep, the guy we gave all of those weapons, money and training to.  The same thing will happen with Hamas and Fatah in Palestine, I am convinced.  Some Americans will be killed with weapons bought with part of that 80 million.

Everytime there is a crisis anywhere in the world, the U.S. "steps up" and helps.  Some other countries do a little part, which usually amounts to about 100th of 1 percent, of what the U. S. does.  The only country that comes close to us, is the United Kingdom, and they do not do half of what the U. S. does.  The U.S. is put down by every country and peoples, no matter what we do, yet they gladly accept our money and our help, and our sacrificed military personnel, when they cry "Help".  Shortly after we help them (there are many "thems"), we will be told to get out of town and don't come back.  Until the next time they cry "Help".

The U. S. is blamed for pissing off the Muslim terrorists and cauaing them to do more bad things.  Well, if they are pissed off because we are friendly with Israel, then screw them.  If they are pissed off because most of us are Christian, then screw them.  If they are pissed off because of we allow women to have equal right, then screw them.  If they are pissed of because we listen to Hip Hop, then screw them.  The U. S. does not judge other people, they judge the U.S.  Blaming everything from Global Warming to Aids, on us.  The U.S. gives millions and millions of dollars to Africa, to fight Aids.  Why?  The U.S. gives millions of dollars to just about every stinking country in the world, every year.  Why?

I am sick and tired of those that continously put down the U.S., coming up with silly reasons.  For instance, their is a section of the population that thinks George Bush caused Katrina in New Orleans, because he wanted to kill blakcs.  Their is a section of the population that believes George Bush caused the Twin Towers to come down, just to have a reason to go to Iraq and get That Damn Hussein, who put a contract out on his father.  There is a large section of the population that believes George Bush went to war just to enrich the coffers of his cronies who own large companies that do contracting for wars.  There is a section of the population who believes that George Bush went to war, just to gain control of the oil over there.  Add all of those sections of the populations together and what do you get?  A very large section of the population that are complete idots and morons.

People on here talking about Fox news is biased.  Sure they are.  Is someone saying that CNN isn't?  CNN was started by Ted Turner, who was married to Jane Fonda.  If you are young, you may not understand the implications of that statement.  If you were an adult during the Viet Nam war, then you understand.

I am going to stop now, but I could go on and on about the liberals that think that the U.S. is evil.  We (the U.S.) are the superhero of the world. We are the glue that is keeping this world together.  I could care less what some idiot in France, Sweden or Bum F ck Egypt reads on this site and thinks about "us".  Let them step up and give to fight Aids.  Let them step up and send some troops to Dar Fur.  Let them step up and invent Hydrogen vehicles.  Let them step up and talk the crazy man in North Korea out of nuking somebody.

A "time out" won't work on Al Queda folks.  Sometimes ya have to beat the brat kids ass.  Even if it pisses him and his friends off.

GARD:  I don't have a problem with you and your posts, as long as you do not come on as if you are my dad, telling me to shut up.  Either join the conversations or stay out of them.  It is real simple.  If me and Dessert Ranger want to fight for a week on here (and we have), then just change the channel or pick a side.  Don't tell us to both shut up.  I know it won't work for me and I believe it won't work for him.  You ain't my daddy.

That isn't what I was talking about. I was not pointing fingers or addressing anyone in particular on my post. I wsa talking about what this forum has become lately as a whole. There have been alot of knowlegable people who have left because of the BS. This is a board that should be about dogs, training, showing, behavior, food, pics and videos, of our dogs, etc. It should be about people sharing ideas in areas  which they have knowlege and experience.

My problem is people have turned this into a place for them to promote themselves, work a personal agenda, or bash others. These boards should be a place where new people learn and experienced people gain from others with experience. It is far from that now. Too many people use this board to make themselves feel good or look important. They are the great saviors of all dogs large and small. A lot of people with very limited knowlege and experience spout off like they are experts. Instead of listening to people they should listen to, they want to act like they know it all. They talk a big game that sounds good, like they know what they are talking about, but they don't.

Olskools is gone, Spook101(even though I didn't really like him, I understand him now) new some stuff, Blitzen offered alot. Animules and Sueincc have alot to offer but refrain to stay out of the BS. II am sure there are many that fall into this category. People with the opportunity to help others learn are not here anymore. This is unfortunate because the people who do want to learn lose the opportunity.

I have made a few friends here and have learned some things. I hope I have helped some people out. If not, it wasn't due to a personal agenda or lack of effort.

I, like you, don't really like spooky boy, but hey.  He is allowed here, as are you and I, and I have to admit he does sound intelligent, but probably should have used the screen name "Contrary101". 

If someone chooses to leave this board.  Bye Bye.  If someone chooses to discuss 1956 Dodge Coronets on this board.  Why would I or you care?  There is plenty of bandwidth and it is a free site.  I re-emphasize that we all have the ability to only read what we want and can change the channel anytime we want.  There are not any non dog discussions going on, on this web site, that prevent anyone, anywhere in the world, from coming on here and asking for info or assistance.  Things move to the bottom of the pile pretty quick.  This site is NOT JUST ABOUT the GSD.  It is about GSD enthusiasts.  That includes the other parts of our lives also.  We have had postings about Best Looking Member, Chihuahua's, Deer, Chinese food, Big Boobs, etc, etc.

I also hope I have helped some people out.  Maybe not about dogs much, but about Police Work, Politics, or Comic Books .  We all have something we can contribute.  Even spooky101 and Seriously (okay, did I really just type that?)
