OMG you people wouldn't listen to Jesus Christ if he told you inbreeding/linebreeding was a good thing! Quit with the touchy feely shit already. Dogs are not human, face those facts folks or go nowhere with your breed. Oh wait...that's already happening.

On the rare occasion a good thread pops up, ya'll do a fantastical job screwing it up with your blather.

Breedings such as the one on topic can and do produce successfully....BUT very few are willing to hold on to their dogs long enough to find out. We have a quick buck system inplace, turn that pup out in 16 weeks before you know what you have and sell him for as much as possible. End of story for better or worse. I hardly think the chances of this pup coming out nice are 99.9999%

Jeb and Jed are sittin behind there trailers in the trailer park sipping a cool one and waiting fer there unemployment checks when Jeb looks and Jed and says "If I had sex with yur wife would we be cousins" Jeb starts laughing and rolls of his lawn chair and looks at Jed and Jed says" Nope but we weed sur be even".

Does this fit the topic?

We don't all have a quick buck system and close inbreeding is NOT a new thing!  It's been done to death (quite literally) for many years by many breeders on many breeds.  We're supposed to know better now!  If what Jeff advocates is so great, get it out there... where are they, these wonderous dogs?

A life time.

Its still idiotic.

How did I do that ??? Wow.

Anyway, have you ever had an accident ??? What do you do with your dogs ???

OK sure, but this is a discussion board and I like to discuss stuff. Oh sure, I made fun of Jim a bit, Sorry Jim, but once you see a dog get hung up on a pallisade by the hocks that he cannot straighten, AND it is your dog, (mine) I get a bit pissy. LOL

I keep seeing opinions from those with no experience with this type of breeding. I keep seeing the GSD fail at things that they shouldn't, and I get a bit tired of it.

I am not talking about creating an uberdog, just WOW how many cannot pass basic working tests let alone a ringsport ???

There is way more money in making pets, I understand this. But to have something dismissed without actual experience.........

No, we are talking about dogs. I have no interest in breeding people. LOL

What is your experience with this death thing ??? Did you have an accident and lost all the pups ??? What are all these other breeds you have experience with ?? Not calling you out.................... well yeah, I am. This sounds like a case of the mysterious "they". LOL

I've seen inbreeding at its worst, mostly with Pits.  But also just for profit.

Breeding brother and sister is a total wild card, completely unpredictable.   And makes no sense.

This is not line breeding.

Morning 4pack...:)

Pet homes are where the majority must go Jeff, there are not enough show / work homes.   We've learned from other peoples experience, why would we want to repeat the same mistakes?  Haemophilia, epilepsy, missing teeth, cancers, skin problems, HD, various auto immune problems.

They DO grow into those ears and feet by about a year old, end up very good looking dogs. Both Gabi and Ken have quite a few V/KK1 progeny to their credit. All looked like fruit bats as puppies. We like to joke around here that if they could flap those puppy ears they could fly and if those puppy feet were webbed they could out-swim a beaver. They can look a little down on their pasterns too, but that also goes away. The other good news is that the ears in this line are very strong ears. Once they are up you can hang your parka on them. I ought to know, I've had 17 of them!

I know Jeff from other lists, he is very knowledgeable about dogs! I'm not saying all that Jeff wrote is what I subscribe to,but there are many applied principles of breeding that he is correct about. I will say this, a majority of the issues with the majority of GS I think come from genetic breeding. I also believe that Koos Hassing would also agree with some of which Jeff wrote and I think he has bred more world class litters from world class dogs for a longer period of time tham most of the enlightened ones including myself on this board. So who would I be inclined to listen to???? All I'm saying is the state of the breed today is the result of POOR breeding and the same practices that are being advocated today are the same ones that have been used in past thirty years and the breed has continued to decline in functionality........why would I want to listen to these voices.....Just a thought

Quote: Breeding brother and sister is a total wild card, completely unpredictable. OK, your gonna get it. LOL You have less genetic variables, and it is a wild card, and completely unpredictable. So with your thought process, outcross is the bomb. I guess you are just fundamentally opposed to this breeding because of the "human" aspect of it.
