Obviously we are dealing with some very fine people here, MVF, such outstanding citizens they have no problem looking down their noses and standing in judgment  of Senator Kennedy for his entire lifetime of deeds,  both good and bad.

Any of you who are so critical of the Late Senator care to post your outstanding resumes  of public service?  Because obviously people so critical of the Late Senator must have done far more in their life times than he could ever have done.  Let's hear how many of you devoted your life to public service?  Please step up here so we can compare your good record against the late Senator's so that we little people can really understand what being "of service" means.

Step up RayRay, SitasMom, Maggs, any  of you so highly critical of the man, his motives and his career.  Let's hear all about your life of public service, because obviously you think so little of what the Senator has done you must be on a par with Mother Theresa.

So please, either put up, or shut up, anything else is just lip service.

Power for the purpose of advancing one's own interests is one thing; power for the purpose of helping others is quite another.

Ted Kennedy was not African American, Hispanic American, Native American, or Asian American. But he championed the Voting Rights and Fair Housing laws, immigration laws, and other legislation advancing civil rights, what he called "the still unfinished business of America."

Ted Kennedy was never a person of color in South Africa. But he championed the fight against Apartheid.

Ted Kennedy was not gay or lesbian. But he championed legislation protecting the rights of homosexual Americans and funding AIDS research.

Ted Kennedy was not a girl or a woman. But he championed women's reproductive rights, health and nutrition programs for pregnant women and infants, and Title IX.

Ted Kennedy was not born into nor did he die in poverty. But he championed the minimum wage, Meals on Wheels, and countless other programs helping those far less advantaged than he.

Ted Kennedy was never a working class laborer or even a middle class wage earner. But he championed the Family Leave Act, OSHA, and the rights of labor unions.

Ted Kennedy was never denied a good education. But he championed No Child Left Behind (which President Bush failed to fund as promised) and higher education for all.

Ted Kennedy was never a serviceman in harm's way. But he came to champion the fight against the Vietnam Conflict, which he called "a monstrous outrage"; he pushed to abolish the draft and give 18-year-olds the right to vote; and he voted against the 2002 authorization for Bush to take us to war in Iraq, which he called "the best vote I've made in my 44 years in the United States Senate."

Ted Kennedy was never a victim of gun violence, like his brothers John and Bobby. But he championed gun control legislation.

Ted Kennedy was never mentally disabled, like his sister Rosemary, or until the end afflicted with cancer, like his son Edward Jr., who lost a leg. But he championed the Americans with Disabilities Act.

And as we saw towards the end, Ted Kennedy was never denied any medical care he needed. But for four decades, he championed community health care centers, cancer research, health insurance portability, the Mental Health Parity Act, the State Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and other legislation that might lead to universal health care for all Americans, which he called "the cause of my life."

It seems to me he meets the definition of an altruist: one who gives to others at expense of one's own interests.

All too uncommon, and not likely to last.  In the US we are now by far the most selfish wealthy country in the world.  And for no benefit!  The social democracies of Northern Europe take care of the poor far better AND they are growing economically more dynamically.

Teddy was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, his family made millions bootlegging booze during prohibition. He got caught paying someone to take his college exams. He left Mary Jo to drown in his Oldsmobile while he disappeared to plot how to save his political ass. He wrecked two families that day, hers' and his lovely wife Joan who became an alcoholic and their marriage didn't survive. He let a young girl die and then got the entire records of the whole case permanetly SEALED.

Teddy was responsible for decades of legislation, like wrecking the school systems, heath care system etc. He helped push us to the edge of the present socialistic society that his buddy Obama intends to finish.

We need more Ted Kennedys, the world just doesn't have enough boozers, adulterers and cheaters. His male relatives, well they tried to live up to Teddy's standards. One got off of a rape charge but the other I believe was convicted of bashing his neighbors cute little daughter's head in with a golf club. I believe that happened after he was up in a tree masturbating while looking in her window. I believe his son got off recently in Washinton after he smashed his car up, reeking of booze, claiming he was on his way to some legislative activity??? Well he'll just have to do better than that if he wants to keep up with dear old dad.

They ought to bury Teddy with Michael Jackson, you know that other perverted sicko the news media worshiped to death.

Wait till you see the letter Dear Teddy wrote to the Soviet Union. I'm sure it will be around on the internet tomorrow.

To those of you who choose to defend this turd all I can say is you would probably vote for Marion Barry, support the Nationalization of our health care and this congress that only ran on, " We hate George Bush vote for us!" and has done nothing else but kiss barack obama's ass.  I find Ted Kennedy a coward. The biggest insult you can call a man.  He continued in politics to stay in power nothing more.  Oh and mvf,  I could care less what northern europe does, why?  because I know what they did in the 1930's and 1940's and I know what The United States of America and Great Britan did to fix it!

Cat1111, since you brought up being uneducated please allow me to correct your post.    "anyways" is a non standard word anyway would be more appropriate.  "could" the correct word for your sentence would be "couldn't,  "anyways" already explained, "with out" should be one word without.  Here ends the lesson.

Oh and before all you libs jump on me for my spelling of Great Britan (sic) that was a typo,  Great Britain is the correct spelling .

Thank You
