I'll say this and I'm not defending anyone, theres no way to reach some people with mental problems, you simply cannot make them understand that what they did or do is wrong.Maybe somewhere in their confused state they do understand their guilt, but they are unable or unwilling whichever the case may be to accept guilt and feel remorse for what they have done. This thread has rambled on and on, with people looking for a confession and some remorse from the OP, for others it was sheer joy of being able to get onboard the bashing train, it should be obvious to anyone that she has no intention of accepting responsibility, she sees things in a different light then sane people do. That should be apparent to everyone that read what she posted in reference to the charges she faced and why it all came to be.To sum it all up, this whole thread was useless, and acomplished nothing but to entertain a few diehard drama seekers. What happened to the dogs is sad, but this persons mental state is just as sad in my opinion. I want to be very clear that I am not defending what she did, but I do believe that she has serious mental problems and that has some bearing on this whole situation. I cannot  say what I might do or not do if I suffered mental instability and neither can any of you.                     Michael

I don't consider it harrasment or stalking when the person in question, keeps replying back. WP has the same problem with diarrhea of the mouth. When someone keeps posting lame excusses, what is wrong with calling them on such?

This person isn't a breeder or anything close to an upstanding citizen. If you couldn't see that in her posts, I don't know what to say to some of you without backbone. Honesty is the best policy anywhere, so post the facts and keep them at the top of the board for as long as possible so newcomers have fair warning.

95% of people don't google breeders or do any looking into casefiles.  Are you guys saying if someone does the work, they should keep the findings to themselves, helping to keep lawbreakers hidden from public? I was fine with DDR being expossed in the beggining without adding my thoughts. It was when she kept up with her bizzar posts and lame excusses of why it wasn't her fault and that the dogs were worse off impounded, than in her own care, that I was enraged.

Calling us AR sympathisers and HSUS supporters was the last straw. I despise those org's as much as I now despise DDR and her actions. The sick thing is, that she cannot see that her own actions or lack there of, on her dogs part, is what keeps these organizations going.

Michael...the thread was far from useless. It got close to 4000 views. I'd say there are quite a bit more people today informed about this woman than there were a week ago.

Puppy mill - 64 German Shepherds seized Gardena, CA (US)

Incident Date: Wednesday, Mar 3, 1999 County: Los Angeles

Disposition: Convicted

Defendants/Suspects:
» Gregory Bartmess
» Janice Bartmess

Case Updates: 1 update(s) available

Gregory and Janice Bartmess owners of South Bay Pet Inn, 18116 La Salle Avenue were booked Saturday at Gardena jail on suspicion of cruelty to animals. They were later released on their own recognizance.

Veterinarians in Carson are working to save 64 German shepherds that were living in squalid conditions at the Gardena kennel. Most of the animals were kept in tiny crates that were filled with excrement.

An officer was called to the kennel because of loud and continuous barking coming from the South Bay Pet Inn. Many of the dogs were living in carriers that were just 2 x 3 feet wide.

"They couldn't move around for exercise. Three was no food or water in most of the cages. Inside the living room of the house was a female German shepherd with five little puppies in one of those carriers."

Janice Bartmess denies the allegations that were made on Thursday. She thinks the problems of the kennel are being exaggerated. "I say it's exaggerated and there's a lot of lying going on. I'm not saying everything was perfect. I think the situation between my side and what they are saying is absolutely bipolar ...."

An emaciated German shepherd was found in the front yard, the dog was in a small dog carrier. The animal was so ill that veterinarians had to euthanize it.

They then found dogs in the backyard and in the garage living in horrible, filthy conditions.

"The ground was covered with feces over a foot high in some places."

Carson shelter manager said the problem with most of the dogs was, they were very hungry.

"Right now they are doing pretty good. We've been feeding them regularly and checking them regularly. They are in a lot better shape than they were in Saturday."

Bartmess said she bought the kennel 4-1/2 years ago to breed dogs for sale. The business has not done well and costs her approximately $10,000 a year. The more dogs, the more problems they were having trying to take care of them.

"This is kind of like a dream that turned into a nightmare. We've never made a living off the dogs, I don't know who could."

The dogs will be kept at the shelter until the case has an outcome. Bartmess said she doesn't know if she wants the dogs back.

Bartmess also had criticism for the animal control department which never offered her any help.

Case Updates
According to court records, on July 18, 2000, Gregory and Janice Bartlett each pleaded guilty to one of eight counts of violating Penal Code Section 597t, mistreatment of a confined animal, a misdemeanor. 30 counts of cruelty to an animal were dismissed as part of the plea agreement. On October 19, 2000, they were each sentenced to one day in jail, and a $200.00 restitution fine. Both were placed on 3 years' formal probation and prohibited from owning animals during that period.

Try nothing, did most people jump and wish her goodbye? No! But you did and then not to add your 2 cents is not like you why Maggie Man? You will jump down others throats about nothing but you will not say one word to a proven dog abuser and that says a lot about you.

Hmmmm, that article appears to concern dogs, German Shepherd dogs to be precise.

What I got out of this article, FEED YOUR DOG!!!!!, don't keep them in tiny cubicles, clean up the feces....

This is why I drove 1300 miles twice, to make sure that I was not giving my money to anyone like the above.

Vote with your dollars, trust but verify.....

Sock Puppet
if you are not using your correct name or you did have another pen name then say so, for as far as i am concerned you are new to the Board and i can only go by the date and amount of posts you have put on
That is not fighting or attacking, It is fact in what is visable for all to see, As regards the Lady in question i am in full agreement if she was put in custody she should have been kept in there for many years, better still have the door key thrown  away
However It is your shouting by using huge capitol letters which i find  not so amusing and in fact you are slagging us all off for not following your example, but how do you know what others are doing it is you trying to make yourself look big and failing dismally in the process, anyone who does that to me means that they are so pissed with other posters that they are losing control of themselves
