I never sent him an email, PM or phoned, why would I need to. He has explained the situation twice, what more can he do. It seems to me the buyer is very happy with her puppy and that's all that matters really. The buyer has no intentions of breeding her puppy, and appears to now know the good and bad of owning a puppy from this breeding. I hope she has many many happy fun times in the future with her puppy which she obviously adores.
Prager the banjo comment cracked me up, thanks for the laugh!!

Slamdunc, I agree I should have handled things differently.

Hams, I appreciate the explanation and believe you are being honest and the breeding was an accident. I would not have culled the pups, either. The post from Molly most closely represents how I would have handled finding the pups a home. You said you offered money back. Would she also have to return the pup then?

My first GSD had severe HD and the breeder offered my money back but I had to return the pup. No way was I giving my boy back so I kept him-- for the next 11 years. Cost me a small fortune but he was worth every penny.

Why are these pups being compared to a broke down car. Alot of you guys are acting like this litter is a bunch of lepers. Man I bet there are only a few pedigrees that if you go back far enough you won't find close inbreeding. If they are pure bred dogs they had to be. In 1971 there was a breeder in Michigan that had a litter of Bluetick hounds. A brother / sister mating  All hell broke loose by the big time breeders. He was constantly being bombarded with rants from the elite breeders of the day. All the crap stopped when one of these pups Northern blue Hammer won the world hunt, and then was line bred back and produced Hammer 2 that dominated in competition night hunts for years. I know there are risks but man it ain't like it's the end of the world. And I've said this on other posts and agree or disagree,it's a fact you don't have to sell good dogs, just make them available and they will sell themselves.

vulchers...all I see are vulchers!

He screwd up, he placed the puppy for half of the price, buyers were willing to pay. They still like the dogs and they are OK with paying 800 bucks for the puppies. I dont get it!

Stops my mind, are people really this vein?

Vickie (PowerHaus)

Are you talking about the nasty pm YOU sent him, that he posted? lol
You showed what you were made of!

Plus if I remember correctly, it was you who said Prager should not of said anything that could have an impact on the amount of money that Voodoo or his off-springs could bring! So, in my book, you are no different!

No actually I take that back, because Prager still seems mature and I can't say that about you and how you handled the Voodoo stuff or how you handled the responsibilities of being a mod!

@ benne61 so you have a problem with spelling but not the fact a breeder sells pups that are out of 9 month old sister and brother with no health certs.?  It is people like you that stand up for breeders like this that are wrecking the gsd. for what it should be!

Also to say that a breed warden doesnt have a problem with this breeding goes to show it is only about the money!

a good salesman tells people what they want to hear not what the problems are.

I hope this thread doesn't get deleted.

This thread (and the previous one) has really shown me more about the people on this board more than it does Hans.

Funny...this thread gets more responses than the thread with the dog and the owner.  Owner seems really happy with the pup.  Damn shame.

faq, the breeding was an accident and 2 of the pups were sold at half price.  Right or wrong, worth it? only time will tell.

Still, I'll bet these dogs from this breeding turn out to be better representations of the breed, temperament, and structure wise than many dogs that are registered and have health certificates.

I've come full circle on this, titled, good breeder blah blah crap.  Now I just want a good dog.

by faq2 on 07 December 2010 - 21:12

ace952 you are right, too many people dont care any health certs. or the wellfare of their dogs.

Prager said the breeding was an accident and he's not defending it. He had to decide what to do with the pups and decided to keep two and cull two. He is standing behind the puppies and by the buyers. There is nothing wrong in that.
He could have been more clear and precise to one buyer, he didn't but he made it up for her by offering to return the money and that was enough and she decided she wanted her, mind you some breeders don't reply e mails nor phones after a sale and that is the not ethical.
Some people think Prager is a prophet, well wake up he is not, he is just a human being like all of us.
Some see him as a competitor in a shitty hole so it is their chance, well go on if you wish, but it is obvious.
Ibrahim
