mewoodir, Since you met the dog let me tell you the story..Mr Stout purchased a Zender puppy  from Alabamak9 and I told him if doing the sport he might want a Zidane as I had both. I imported a female that was breed to Zender and knew little or nothing about what he produced as at that time he had no titled dogs to his credit and Zidane had many. He said NO he wanted a Zender. I sold him the Zender and it calls me up when it is ten months old that the dog was a wash out for sport no health issues ,just did not have the drives which happens. I sent after the dog on my own expense and brought him back to Alabamak9 put obedience on him and resold him for pet which you are right he was. I told Mr. Stout that I would replace him with a Zidane and that was the plan but his living arrangements changed and he did not want this replacement so his entire 1,500 paid for the dog was returned to him...now how many kennels would do this name me a few?? Does anyone think this was not a more than fair deal? So leave Alabamak9 out of this post and if you or anyone else have any more questions email me at my website and I will answer as best I can. www.alabamak9.com

Marlene:  You are a good egg.

Ironic that the big players who have 25, 30 litters every year are never called puppymills on a public internet breed board. Why is that?

Full moon is Tuesday May 20th.

Marlene,

Show me where in the above post I mentioned Alabama K9?  I believe your good Christen friend Yellowbelly brought up your kennel.

Off to track,

Brad

Blitz, Are you talking about working line breeders?  I can't think of any working line breeder here in the states (or anywhere for that matter) that breeds like that.  There just isn't the demand and most are smaller boutique breeders.  I am only specifing working line breeders because I'm not familiar with  the big players in show lines.

by Blitzen on 18 May 2008 - 15:05

I'm thinking showlines like Yellowrose breeds. Why does gstout call her a puppymill and not include those who breed a LOT more litters than she does? Double standard? I really don't know many working line breeders myself so have no idea if any breed 25, 30 litters per year. I do know that some showline breeders pump out that many and some even more.

Gstout, what is your definition of a puppymill? If it's all about titles or no titles, then I am reminded of the antics at this year's SS and have to ask - so what? If the titles are gifted and not earned, then they are worthless, aren't they?.

Not gifted Blitzen, bought.

Now I'm a complete nobody and I don't know any of these people personally, but after seeing all the videos (morbid curiosity I guess) I have to say I agree with Don on this one.

I rarely comment on posts against others even tho I have strong opinions of this orginal post impeding a trial.

My commets was to Micheal (mewooddir) they were a statement of facts period, since he may or may not be apprised of what transpired and to  clarify not to deflame anyone. Anytime Alabamak9 is addressed I will and always have responded and will continue to address any issues involving me and my business.

I will comment on the orginal post which is were this should have stayed. No one no matter what anyone achieves in the sport of schutzhund should  interfere with a trial for any reason, conduct like this should not be allowed or let go unpunished.  The greatness of a trainer can be measured in many ways besides winning soley, how they treat their dogs, how they promote the sport with good character, how they help others involved in the sport , how they treat their fellow competitors should be as much of a measuring stick. Their are many excellent examples of this intergity and character in stewarts of this sport. But their is also examples of a few who bully and belittle their rivals.

I have no first hand knowledge of this event but heard by the grapevine that the  evidence of video and personal accounts were found to be inconclusive by USA ,again hearsay. I do know personally a incident of  misconduct has occured to me personally while attending the ADWF this year which was not reported by me  but was witnessed, so I tend to trust this is something that should be looked in to carefully.  I do think USA when entrusting a major event to a club has the responsibility to ensure guests and competitors are treated equal and fair and this should be one of its upmost criteria when selecting and choosing any person/persons to host a event for them. Personal dislikes and agendas should be left at the gate of any event and people who act and display this type of behavior should be addressed.

As far as the "puppy mill" thing that always seems to crop up titled vs untittled etc etc numbers too many, too small agruments over and over and people throwing this around way too much.  The number of litters you produce small or large does not make for defining the meaning of "puppy mill". Many large kennels in Europe produce twenty or thirty a year and is done with much thought to what the outcomes are with incredible dogs. Many breeders who breed one or two litters a year have the same  great results so numbers in itself means little oneway or the other.

A puppy mill is a place producing sick ,unsuitable dogs kept in cages in dirty, cramped  conditions for sale to pet stores and other less than desirable avenues with no specific care or concern over the animals and no goals or directions to quality or health. No matter if you breed towards sport from working lines or dogs from medium pet lines, or show lines,  does not label you specific to be a puppy mill. Well cared for dogs of any bloodlines ,well socialized, clean, with good hips/health and temperaments produced in clean desirable  conditions and surroundings placed in good homes is not a puppy mill. We all tend to think we can label others who breed differently than we do as such and impose us as "self proclaimed breed wardens of the world". I know Yellowrose and know she cares for her dogs as good as anyone I have  met ,there is never a time one is not with her, under her feet while she is cooking and going about her day. If you have ever spoke with her on the phone which I have on many occasions never will be without the sound of a dog next to her breathing in the phone as well. If you have ever spoke with her about her dogs you know she is a genuine person who does love her dogs, very much the center of her life.

Schdecoy is almost to rude to address as you review his posts, but keep this in min
