Look at the New Thread    NEW LINK TO HELP MAX  Please  everyone go there and post your thoughts and encourage them to investigate this issue along with other family pets that have been executed by LEO

Whoever posted the link about "precious" the Pit Bull Terrier needs to provide them with that link as well,  and write your thoughts on the phenomenon now known as  "Family pets are executed if they get in the way of Law Enforcement"   as the question... How are we to keep our pets "Safe" if they are not even Safe in our own home, backyard, garage,....

Maybe that's what should go on the poster ??

Just how is a family pet more important than the life and safety of a LEO?  I'm sorry for their loss.  I truly am.  But I think if my son is running through people's yards in pursuit of a felon and he happens upon a dog attacking him that he would shoot the dog rather than be attacked, maimed and possibly killed by said dog.  My son's life is more important than a dogs, especially when he is doing his job.  I pray to God that he never encounters this situation, but if he does I want him coming home in one piece.

stay out of peoples yard when persuiing a felon...why does a cop  have to come into my personal private domain and put me and my pets and my family in liable and thus kill one of us, dog included...the felon is a suspect ,not a convicted criminal and if so, then a pd out to come to my door or call and advise me and all on my property the danger....they have radios, and fog horns, and microphones.....if its that serious dont enter my yard on a chase....thousands of unneccessary car chases especially in Cal where my tv programs in Texas , get interrupted to watch a three hour chase by Calfornia pd and SHeriff, only to end in many vehicles damaged, spectators all over hurt, killed or mamed for life,,,,for a car chase, supposidly a felon, crook, criminal or half the time , dont even know how many people in the car they are chasing.....sorry, but I would hope it wouldnt be your son going through my yard......with no warning to put my family out of harms way....Id take that dept all the way to the supreme court....and die trying.....This is America , and a badge doesnt give rights where private ownership is not handled in the proper manner....even if they catch the felon, he will back on the streets before the officer gets his reports written the next am.....or before that officer gets his next pay raise.....so the importance of running thru neighborhoods and over peoples fences is unwarranted...like the sign says on my property   If found here at night, your will still be here in the morning......so Ill be glad to help the pd....let them come thru my yard, call me , and Ill deliver the felon to you,,and you will remain bite free.,,,,,,,,If america is turning into a free gun totin run thru the neighborhood, catching the man on the run, I guess Willy Nelson better write another song...and I dont care for Willie Nelson....

So, just for clarification, if a police officer is chasing a man who allegedly just raped and killed a 7 year old child and gets to a fence, when the felon jumps the fence, the cop should stop chasing just in case there is a dog who might bite the officer in the yard and get shot???

A child is in a back yard and getting ripped apart by the family pet 'gone bad'. The cops need to stay out of that yard too, right?

I think most Americans would disagree with you on either one.  Where exactly do you draw the line? This country doesn't need a bunch of legislation which make the laws so long and drawn out, that there are rules for rules and more rules for those.

What you have to remember here is that cop jump fences not for FUN, but to apprehend someone who is RUNNING from them (typically for a reason, right???) Typically, the cop then jumps the next fence, and the dogs are usually so stunned by someone running through their yard when they don't expect it, they just sit there and don't get to the wall until the felon and cop are both gone.

Lastly, if some alleged felon jumps MY wall, I don't want drugs that the guy may be carrying dropped in my yard for my dogs or kids to get ahold of and catch God only knows what, or die of an OD on.

Again, just my thoughts....

sueincc I never stated anywhere that anyone was attacked while running thru a yard while in pursuit of a felon.  I gave a scenerio and expressed that I believe a human beings life is more important than a dogs.  Perhaps I should have put it in simpler language.  And Yellow Rose just to clarify things for you, a felon is not a suspect but in fact is a convicted criminal.  I choose my words carefully when I write.  I did not put "suspected felon" in my post for a reason.  And the reason I did that was to emphasize that in that scenerio he had better have a good reason.

Then why did you pose the question "Just how is the life of a family pet more important than the life and safety of a LEO?"   When I asked why you made this statement you said in response to Echo Meadows previous post.  She never said or implied the life of a family pet was MORE important.
