Someone please help me get a clue here....so the dogs that do so well in Schutzhund are usually West German working lines?

I was under the impression most dogs from what was formerly W. Germany were show lines, and the REALLY good working dogs came from DDR, Czech Republic, Hungary, etc.

" so what if they get bad obediance they get over the top prtection and tracking. lets get it right here!!!"

How do you think a dog can have no obediance and have good protection ?? how would you get the dog to out ?? Tracking is ALL about obediance.

Someone is feeding you bs about these dogs.

another possibility of course is that ddr/sdg's dogs are not themselves good sport dogs, but perhaps they are also not a good representation of DDR dogs in general.  Generalizations only work entirely well for small minded people who need boxes to be able to quickly, easily and thoughtlessly judge dogs because either they are a) lazy, b) lack knowledge, or c) unwilling or unable to learn/judge an individual on his/her own merits.

A couple of things for you consider Joe,

The wall came down in 1989, all the real ddr dogs are deceased now and there will be no more, just  descendants of these dogs. The originals may have been great but now it seems this type of dog is bred for sable color and head size, you wont see many that look like Lord did.

I doubt you could find any "ddr" dog these days that does well in any sport or anything else, they are usually purchased titled and just used for breeding machines to sell to people that are interested in a dog that looks like it could do the job, with very little in common with the dogs of the past.

I have been told DDR lines are very slow to mature. it can take 3-4 years for the average DDR line male to come inmto his own.  most sch. people do not want to wait that long.  I have also been told that they lack the prey drive of the wg dogs and that makes them easier to live with pet wise.  some can become quite civil and defensive.

You have both west german showlines along with working lines.  same with DDR.  there were showlines and working dogs

well dog mama were all decendents of somebody go figure who do you resemble in your familt mom dad  or grand mom lets see so i guess theddr dogs of today are a new breed correct. if thats the case west german lines breed on a lower  hip displasa this is because of the dogs in its past the east german lines are true to its ansestery with about 5% bad hips which czhech dogs from good lines from the origanal kennels of border patrol dogs. are about 5% this comes from there ansestry czech and ddr dogs are very true to there lines and have good head bone and pigmentaion. amercan sheperds are about 25%bad hips why is this. because they threw all the dogs in one pot and breed the heck out of them two what they thought it should look like. so thanks for the info buy the way when you look threw your scrap book  of your family i bet you cant find not one that looks like you or had the same gebnes as you do!!!
