Is it really important to keep the DDR-lines pure when there are so few good 100% DDR-lines nowadays? I think it´s better to breed the type of dog you desire and care less about what ancestors it has.

To be fair to the sellers, Dawgma....It seems like a lot of money, but it is not really much, if at all, out of line in price.  This is a young dog who is SchH3, KKL and V rated, ready to breed with full approval from working people.  He will be useful for breeding or trialing for many years to come.  If he is a really good dog, he may be essential to someone's program with his DDR bloodlines to add diversity to a program that has lines that have too much linebreeding (Fero, Mink, etc).  It takes hundreds of hours to get a SchH3 on a dog.  What are hundreds of hours of your time worth?  If you don't do it yourself, but put your dog with a trainer to get titled, you will be out thousands of dollars instead of hundreds of hours.

I think DDR puppies are usually priced about the same as the other working GSDs.  I don't remember seeing that they were priced less.

Retaining dogs with civil and defense drives as well as prey drives in the pedigree is important for the future of the breed.

Those here that are saying a DDR is not, in general, a good sports dog but IS a good protection dog--- this sounds more like a reccomendation of of suitability for households who need a protection dog (and to prevent bootmarks on my boot---people who have the experience or intelligence to handle that kind of dog. )

And I don't own any pure DDR dogs.  I wouldn't mind one or two.  Anyone have any really good ones handy you'll let me have? LOL.

i never claimed to be a expert on ddr lines MR JHONS K9. i just  answerd ddr /sdg question. he stated ddr lines were poor on obediance and protection. one of the best ranked dogs is a ddr dog wich was lord glesdrick. i believe all ddr lines are not as he says. ddr dogs were breed for protection so why wouldnt they score high .also they have very good tracking. all dogs are diffrent on training and also very diffrent trainers. we werent talking about my dogs testical. but if we must thats for another descussion.thanks if  you have ssen my dog he has the look of thee ddr dog .he has awsome nerve you can tAKE HIM ON ENY SURFACE OR TAKE HIM ENY WERE. ENY ONE CAN OPROACHE HIM HE HAS NEVER MET A SYTRANGER UNLESS HE IS AT HOME THEN HE WILL ALLOW YOU IN UNDER MY WORD. BUT HE IS NOT FULL DDR HE HAS CZECH MIXED WITH HIM. I WAS NOT THE BREEDER OF THIS DOG. BUT I SURE WOULD LIKE TOO KNOW HOW YOU DETERMANE THIS MATCH OF DOGS WOULD THROW BAD TESTICALS PLEASE SCHOOL ME HERE.IM ALWAYS WILLING TO LEARN THANKS JOE T

You could have started a new thread instead of digging out this old one.

'What we are talking about here is German dogs, the fact that they (Germans) split for a while is neither here nor there. The people didn't suddenly become hard headed ruthless commies (like in the movies), they remained Germans and their dogs still remained German Shepherds.'

Youre out of your mind.
Millions of East Germans FLED  to West Germany and WHY the Berlin Wall was Built in 1961.

66,000,000 Christians were killed by Bolshevik Jews in Communist Russia,  according to the lead statician, this was the number quoted in Aleksandr Solzhenitzen's Book 'Gulag Archipelago' for which he won a Pulitzer and Nobel Prize.
He was a Captain under Stalin and later shipped To the Gulag, himself.

Dog Breeding  and all kinds of production in all facets, in everyday society, drastically changed in Communist East Germany.

Im a fan of the DDR dogs, generally seem to not be as sport oriented, and thats probably a good thing.
