Absoloutly none, but I'm not saying they do, nor do I expect any one else to.

Sunsilver no use in addressing her.  I only posted that particular link because I saw that this dog passed away less than two weeks ago.  I didn't know that, nor did I even know how many RTTs there had been since.  The link was for information purposes only.  Thank you for posting it in the other post.  I enjoyed reading it and learning about a dog I worshipped as a child.  It's nice to see some of the positive work being done by this kennel, especially the therapy work with children.

Thank's for the info Policemom - I thought it was actually very interesting.  I didnt even know there was a website or that there had been Rin Tin Tin's born since either...though I have seen a few...I thought it was just a general name people tacked on...not a kennel name...I kind of missed the Rin Tin Tin era - I'm a little young...but he was one of the dogs I heard the most about as a child despite that.

I didnt think the dogs looked that bad personally - they werent over angulated, they werent roached and its nice to see someone who doesnt care about color since that is a very mild concern in my opinion....lol...quite a bit pricey in my opinion but still - lot of interesting things on the site.

Thanks for posting :)

Rin Tin Tin (more correctly, Rin Tin Tin II, which was the most used and most famous of the several Rinty's that appeared in movies and TV shows), was "my dog" in my childhood, even if only in my imagination.  I don't care if he was a fear biter, had HD or his ears had to be taped.  He was "my dog" and I will always remember him just as some will always remember Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe of JFK, who all had faults.  I would be proud to have progeny from Rinty's line, even if just for a pet.  I have researched it and found several American Show champions that are descendants of Rin Tin Tin II.  The names are below.  I do not know if the orwers of these dogs even know they come from Rinty's line, but I have put in a lot of time tracing it and they are from Rinty's line.  The owners of Rinty's "official" lineage advertise that they are the only place to get descendants from , and they require spaying and neutering to maintain their monopoly of the "line", but it is not the only ongoing line from Rin Tin Tin II.   If you don't care about Rinty, fine.  Have a good day.  If you do care about Rinty, then here is a little tidbit.  I have an 8 x 10 photo of Rinty hanging here in my office.  Just cause I want to.

Descendants from Rin Tin Tin II:

Ch. Ken-Delaine's Buddie v Fran-Jo

AM SEL CH Lochwood's Sundance v Stuttgart

AM GV CH Rio Valles Nestles Crunch

The dog that died was NOT  Rin Tin Tin & the dog that died's sole claim to fame is he sired a bunch of other puppies,  & sat in a parade so I think it's ridiculous & silly for the owners to have a press release entitled  "The Nation Mourns the Loss of Rin Tin Tin".  Just another way to get attention & try to snag more $$ for the pups.  Ask them why they charge so much for their dogs & they'll tell you, "Why it's because they are the descendants of Rin Tin Tin".  Oh no, nothing commercial about that press release at all.  riiiiiiiiiight wanna buy a bridge???????????

If you dont like the dogs or the practices of the breeders than dont by them...its about that simple...but some of us find this interesting and actually like this topic of conversation.

I think Rin Tin Tin really promoted to this country what a German Shepherd could and should be to those of us who watched him as children.  I know that's when I fell in love with GSDs.  Many many children fell in love with that dog, and the impression he made on us contributed to the way we feel today as adults about our GSDs. I wonder how many here feel that they were influenced to own GSDs from this one dog?  I think collie people probably feel the same way about Lassie.  And Do Right....he wasn't YOUR dog he was MY dog lol.

I rather enjoyed looking at those old pedigrees.   A bunch of HGH titles seen in those dogs!

I don't think anyone's arguing the fact that Rin Tin Tin has a very interesting story behind him or that we all adored him as kids.  The problem (for me anyway) is the way the whole operation is being touted as the best thing going in GSD breeding.  Sure they donate dogs but so do other breeders.  They just don't shout it out in big red letters on their websites.   Yes they have a spay/neuter contract but how many other breeders do the same?  I saw mentioned that Rin Tin Tin was 4 generations removed from Horand.  Hello?  I think we can all pretty much say the same thing about our own dog's ancestors.  I also noticed that everyone ignored the fact that only a few of their breeding dogs could be found on the OFA registery.   So I guess my point is, love the memory of Rin Tin Tin but don't try to convince me that their dogs are any better than any other dog I could buy out of the newspaper.
