London

by London on 11 July 2008 - 02:07

I don’t usually participate in these type of posts but I wanted to add my 2 cents worth based on my personal experiences and take on the subject…

Love doesn’t make you blind….stupid is stupid.

I am asked constantly if I will breed my pup when he’s older because “he is just stunning.” Yes he is, but he should not be bred. I love my pup and think he is the most handsome dog in the world, but I am certainly not blind to his faults, which matter not because he is a pet. Even with previous dogs I’ve owned (all purebred registered GSDs, but sold as pets, or adopted by me when they were being retired) I have been approached and asked if I would offer them out as studs. Altered or not, the answer was always no. Why? Because I respect the breed, the work of good breeders, and I am NOT blinded by love.

I believe the reason that so many people I come across look at my nice looking dog(s) and think them all worthy of breeding is because most have never seen a purebred up close and have only seen the mixes produced by so many irresponsible owners. A purebred, even with faults, is still far more attractive than your “average” dog. But hell, they’re all cute when they’re pups right? Other than money, I have no explanation for people who are familiar with the breed but still choose to breed sub-standard dogs.

Excellent post London!  You use common sense, true knowledge of the breed and hence,  show a true love of the breed.

I SO agree with you London, most of people have never never seen a real quality dog..I work in  vet clinic and I can count on my hand the reals beautifuls dogs I see pass in a year (and we do a lot of breeders imagine!).  People are so use to see dogs with est west legs, deformed jaws and rear limb so straight you can tell they are going to tear that knee ligament!

If you do not know yourself that a dog will put a bad name for you out there then you are an idiot and you should not even have a dog like germanshepherd let alone breed one.like i say every tom dick and harry is abreeder out there and a trainer of germanshepherd dogs.i truly feel sorry for this breed. have a nice one.

It has finally happened--someone has finally DRIVEN me back to church.  Molly:  I see your "OMG" and raise you a "Oh, LAWD, no, Please!  It hurts, it hurts!!"  This has, combined with that "sheapdoodle" post ah ruined my day.   I am going to go home and hide in a quart of ice cream, until the shudders stop.

Funny I started a post about this women named Zoe not Elizabeth and her PUPPYMILL,Kennel as she calls it. The dog she is talking about has been with her for a few years. He was there a year ago when I bought my dog from her.I can't believe some of the things she says on her posts. She told us that she has been breeding for 15 years. Then she tells you guys that she is just starting out as a breeder and needs some info. She is full of ####. I can't believe some of the things I have been reading about her and her kennel. I made a big mistake buying a puppy from her,but we love our Sirse and we are glad we got her away from Zoe.I just wish someone would do something about all the other dogs she has. I bet there was over 15 dogs when we were there. She lives in Orwell Ohio and I hope she reads this. She tells you how much she goes to church and all this stuff about God too bad she doesn't live that way. Someday she will pay for all the things she has done wrong. She is very money hungry and does what she does just for money not for the love of the different kinds of dogs she breeds.

When will people realize it takes more than testicles to be a stud.  In the noble words of Forrest Gump "Thats all I have to say about that."
