ps... I watch all news both liberal such as cnn,abc,nbc,bbc,cbs & msnbc. I also watch fox news which i consider as they say fair and balanced.  Plus I listen at times to Rush, Hannity and Glenn Beck. I also read news on the interent both liberal and conservative.

I am sorry this thread went into a different direction because of something I wrote about how dogs are treated in the Arabic world.

Having said that, I would like to address both sue and DR.  Yes, several (actually 9) of my closest friends, whom I love dearly, are Arabic and Muslim.  They are like many, if not most Christians, in that their religion is a part of their live and history, but they don't follow it REAL religiously (again, like most Christians).  If questioned about how they feel about America, they say they have nothing against the U. S., EXCEPT our friendship and backing of Israel.  They have an inborn hatred of Jewish people and from what I have observed and heard, after trying to convince them otherwise, it is almost genetic (of course it is not genetic, but taught and instilled from birth), and it is NEVER going to change.  Ironically, I also have one not so close friend, but who I care about and have spent time with, who is Jewish.  I have talked extensively with him about religion and associated things, and he also seems to have a genetic hatred of Arabic Muslims, but I do get the feeling from him that he is more open to peace if the Muslims would just leave them alone, and I do not get that feeling from the Muslims.  They feel that the world will not be right until the Jews are "gone" from it.

In my estimation, from my personal experiences, I can not even imagination the Jewish people and the Muslim people EVER  ridding themselves of this hatred.  History would also back up my belief concerning that.  I think that eventually, there will be, and has to be, a world war between the Muslim believers and the non-Muslim peoples.  I have read the Koran (I collect rare first edition books and have a copy of the first ever english translation of the Koran), and if the translated edition is correct, the Muslim nation has a Duty to Allah, to force others to their religion at the point of a sword, or kill us.

It is sad, but it is the way it is.  More wars are fought over religion than all of the other reasons put together.

Everytime I watch the news, I have a hard time reconciling my friendship with my Muslim friends.  I love them but I do not trust them 100%.   I know that they are not terrorists, and prefer peace, but if push comes to shove, they WILL take the side of the Islamic Extremists, over the side of peace and their love for me.  Their God comes first and I guess I can not fault them for that.  Until three or four years ago, my God came first also, over my love for them (I lost my belief that there is a God a few years ago, after being a Baptist all of my life, and I miss Him so) (but that is a discussion for another time).  It is a touchy situation being friends with Muslims, and I was brought up to hate the Jews because I was taught that they are the ones who crucified Christ (the Romans did it but at the bequest of the Jewish leaders).

The world is what it is.  I wish it was not so, but there is no other way in my opinion.  There will be and has to be a total religious war, and we will all be losers.  I believe most (if not all) religious teachings (The Bible, The Koran, The Torah, The Book of Mormon, etc) all are based on this belief also.

i have to admit, my first reaction isn't positive when i see the dog tied out. i don't know under what circumstances he was tied out. if his owners are muslim, then honestly i'm feeling a bit better, because in islam, dogs are considered "unclean". it takes time to change cultural habits. the british used to bait bears and still (i think) hunt fox for sport. civilized? no. we have pakistani muslim friends who we've known for almost 26 years. they have changed and adapted quite a bit in that time. they deplore the violence in the mideast. they have more sympathy for iraqis i think, because we invaded a sovereign nation for no justifable reason. we should have stayed in afghanistan where osama bin laden and al quaeda were being sheltered by the taliban. we allowed bin laden to escape. iraq now has a prob w/al quaeda and other terrorist groups because we created the perfect breeding ground for them. what's happened is that now terrorists can recruit from people who normally would have shunned them. it's not just "disenfranchised" (i.e. out-of-work) young men who are answering the call. they are seeing this as an attack on ALL muslims. yes, it is a stated goal to convert the whole world to islam. it is also a stated goal of many christians to convert the world to christianity. it wasn't so long ago in our culture that we forced people to our christian faiths. yes, we have to be on guard against any terrorist goals, but sweet heaven, if you're getting your "news" from fox noise, you are in serious trouble. broaden your horizens and check out what is being reported - by ANY station, radio or tv. it doesn't take too long to check out any story you hear. i do think it would be in the best interests of moderate muslims around the world to make a louder noise against those who believe in a radical islam, but they come in all different types of muslim as we do christians or hindus or  sikhs. cultures take time to adjust to different attitudes, but they can and do. america is still the best place i think, but we have to be open to learning and teaching and showing that it is possible to live as you want to within the boundaries of our laws. btw, our muslim friends look forward to christmas to come see our tree and decorations and to exchange gifts. i've sat through parties where its customary for the women and men to be segregated and i've been to big bashes (graduations and weddings) where the men would sneak alcoholic drinks to me (because i'm not muslim) under the eyes of their most conservative members. back to the original reaction to the tied up dog - the more valuable a dog becomes, the better it is treated (usually - it only makes sense to take care of your "money") and when people see how other cultures treat their dogs, it will change the attitudes of many others. i think its more of a "grass roots" effort.

You are correct in that was one of my points is how do you know which ones to trust?  The truth is like you said you cannot trust any of them 100%.... and yes you are correct about the jews requesting the romans crucify Jesus.  The Muslim faith was born of bloodshed and violence and yes they will continue to kill. My other point is the only way to stop them killing is for our military to kill all of them as they teach their children to hate and kill, basically brainwash them so they have no hopes of ever changing.  Yes if push comes to shove even american/british etc muslims will turn against us and support muslims. that's why sue has to ask us to go goggle a website to try to defend her position that muslims are against the terrorists.. i do agree that a few muslims are against violence but they make up a small percent. It's scary when you watch the leaders of the American muslims on tv speak as they side step andrefuse to answer many questions on their position.

LOL  you people keep insulting Fox News yet they now have more viewers than most liberal news org. Guess i am not the only one...lol

desert rangers, i do hear fox noise and that's what it is. i don't want liberal media or conservative media - i want unbiased reporting of the facts. that shouldn't be so hard. but when political agendas get in the way, the "news" becomes propaganda. btw, "liberal" talk and tv are gaining more and more, maybe people really want to weigh the facts and decide for themselves. and i dont think you meant to say "it is oblivious..."  and i'm really glad you're tired of trying to educate people like me. just stay tired.
