The childish bickering going on between you, certain others, and Echo demeans the professionalism of this board. If this site were moderated, you'd BOTH get your wrists slapped.

I'd love to see this foolishness stop once and for all. It's driving a lot of people with tons of knowledge to share away from the boards.

I remember the first time I poked my nose in here a year or two ago. I think it was when you were having difficulties with a certain moderator. Things were so bad, so mean spirited, I promptly turned around and left. (And NO, I'm not counting myself as one of those people with 'tons of knowledge' to share, I'm just sharing my reaction to the tone of the board.)

Spook, you got something against goats???

I got a chucke out of your post, and not because it had anything to do with Echo. Poke fun of me if you want, it's still funny.

I did not want to enter this debate, however I do wish to open this up a bit for clarity.
I do not always agree with Spooks delivery. Spook knows this. However, most of us do not like being confronted and usually send up an army of defense when we feel our integrity is being questioned. The problem is that when the delivery is too agressive it is easy for us to ignore the content and attack without considering the information. Unfortunatly, spook hits the nail on the head with great accuracy, however those that could grow from it don't.
I do not like to be confronted in this manner, however I have learned over the years that I must listen and digest the feedback if I am to grow!!!!
It is not about my ' feelings' being hurt, it is not about me looking bad. It is about growth, wisdom, applied knowledge and ultimatly becoming a more productive breeder, trainer, person etc.
I do not believe spooks frustration is in E.M.s breeding program. ( correct me if I am wrong spook) I believe it is much deeper then that. Like spook I am a purist. I want the best info I can get regardless of the cost, whether it's dogs, training or buying a new car, doesn't matter. I see this same drive in others on this board. I see some saying in their heart, " let's cut the crap and deal with reality, truth and bring on something to challenge me to do better with my dogs".
I do not wish to sling crap at any one. I have tried to avoid this and have failed at least on one occasion. But I will say that when we come on this board with motives other then impoving our selves or helping others in regards to our dogs then we will eventually fall under attack.
When we use this board for our own agenda and refuse to accept feedback, refuse to look at ourselves in the mirror we have no one to blame. I include myself in this.
I said this once before, this board is about the dogs and about us as handlers, helpers, trainers, breeders, pet owners, perspective buyers, sellers, enthusiasts, and those that just love working dogs. When we vary from that we will fall under the weight of our own ego. It will happen every time. Spook speaks from his heart. He is the kind of person that will say it to your face and not behind your back. This I admire. He does not care who he offends as long as it gets to the truth. If he ever tones it down a notch it will reach more ears, if not then it will just have to be recieved by those that are more hungry for the truth then flattering their own ego.  Thanks

When did name calling become part of speaking the truth and constructive feedback?

Good question, Policemom!

Bravo, Olskool.  Well said.  Spook calls it like he/she sees it and you always know where you stand.  I find that refreshing.

Having  been the object of one of Spook's rants a month or 2 ago, I can tell you it was neither fun or refreshing. However, I do think that, in the end, the intent is good and not self-serving and always in the best interests of the breed. I just wish the delivery were a bit more forgiving .

I will be the first to stand up & say I don't want to be on the receiving end of one of Spooks rants either!!!!

Would we all be surprised it we ever met Spook101?

Does anyone know who he/she is? Really?

Does anyone have a clue who this ?

olskoolgsd,

I wondered where you had been, glad to see you're still here.  Great post.  Many have received "scoldings" and learned from them, me included.  I'm okay with it, as you pointed out you need to read what's said, not how it's said.  spooks okay in my book and I've learned a lot, and hope to keep learning.

Now, don't you be such a stranger.
