Luvmidog, nobody answered EM when she offered a monetary reward for spooks identity so I think spook is safe with anybody that does know.

Sueincc, I'm still in therapy .

by spook101 on 20 July 2007 - 23:07

The picture and caption were probably inappropriate. I actually didn't know she had left the site. (I'm not sure I believe it.) My problem with EM is many folks, including myself, getting sucked in to her drama, attempting to help and then getting it shoved up the nose. She by far is not the only bad or marginal breeder, but she is very manipulative especially with new folks. Enough said about that.

I know I'm caustic, but in most cases I don't attack unless attacked. I freely give my opinion; this is after all an open site. I've been the target from time to time and don't always respond; it depends on the subject. Some threads I won't even enter beause of their potential volitility. Some I don't know enough about and don't pretend to. If you are a liar or full of it, I will occassionally call you on it. (Everyone remembers the 'dogs that have no fear' threads or 'I can take one of my dogs from rescue and title it in Schutzhund'.)

I think the GSD is the finest breed and we're in trouble for a number of reasons; bad breeders, piss poor trainers, expert wannabe's, jealousy, scam artists etc. and the biggest problem is people see this as a way to make a buck off the newbies. We used to do helper work for free, for the pride of sharing our knowledge and to encourage growth in the breed. We didn't charge for information or help. Now we just want to see if we can make a buck off these dogs. Don't get me wrong, there are many legitimate businesses that serve a valuable purpose. Most of these folks have been doing this for years and I don't fault them. Their knowledge and contacts have been what has brought great dogs and great training to this country. The problem is the ones that get a little info and become instant experts.

Watch; the next time someone says they are looking for a dog and God help them if they say how much they're willing to spend.

And yes there are some on this thread and a number on this site that know me.

RC, Every time I wonder if you're still with us you rise from the bottomless pit. Welcome back, stranger.

Spoken like a true salesman Spook. Now if only these poor people could see that you sell your ideas to their dogs in training and then nailed it down  they might get a happy dog and results. BTW I was riding in B.C. for the last couple weeks. Always looking. Just too old to try more often. Later

R.C. if you were in B.C. you were fairly close.  I would have been happy to buy you a cup of coffee.

And, thanks for the information.

Spook I am new here and wandered onto this thread.

I think I'm gonna like you, Im 0/3 in bad hips and the one thing it has taught me is that I don't have the heart to be a breeder so from here on out I'm working on learning, educating about hips and bad genetics, and will rescue shepherds for the remainder of my years. In the meantime i am nursing my 11 year old buddies hips and waiting to see if and when the two younger ones will need hip surgery to prevent the suffering my best buddy in the whole world has been going through, Thank God for my vet she has helped me keep him comfortable and keeps a close check on him and I love him so much she has promised to tell me when it is time to put him down.

Gshprdsrul, I'm sorry to hear about your bad luck , but I'm sure your dogs are lucky to have you. There are many very good breeders in the US, but far too many that don't have a clue.

Great, I love an even playing field
