"So what is the confusion about what he meant??? First of all a showdog is definately spinning that fucker in his grave real good, but a dog bred solely for Sch is sending him end over end. There has to be vomit all over that coffin. LOL"

OMG I almost choked to death on a french fry! What does a skeleton vomit anyway? That was truly funny. Glad somebody had the balls to say it!

Max started for hearding.  when that went dry, he pitched his breed to the military and police.

LMAO Bone juice!

I still think my dog would eat a sheep before he protected it.

My herding dogs left to do would they wish with sheep would in the long run.  probably kill a sheep as well.  herding is hunting in some regards.

OK Rez, I'll send you my brute and you show me what he can do!?

I believe it could be acquainted with this:  Originally, women chose their mate by picking the one that could hunt best (work best), and originally, the man picked his woman by picking the one that produced babies best and raised them (worked best),  But now, things have changed.  Both men and women go for looks first (yes, I know that some go for the good provide, but if there are several good providers "available", they will go for the good provider that looks best").

So, if a show line GSD can "provide" what a person needs (family protector (or bad guy deterent), companion, hobby (showing, schutzhund, whatever), then what is wrong with having one?

If Capt. Stephanitz meant originally for his dog to be a herding dog, then changed it to a police or military dog, then who in the heck changed it to be a sporting dog?

Is Schutzhund working?

Isn't modeling work?

As DesertRanger once wrote me, "don't hate me because I am beautiful".

Capt. Stephanitz would vomit bone juice if he observed either the VA1 or the BSP winner, IMO, but would vomit slightly less from observing the BSP winner.  He wanted a working dog in the sense of each of his breed having to do something to earn their food, besides be a total pet, such as Poodles or Pekinese, or Chihuahua.  That is what he meant.  He just did not want lap dogs or bog oafs.

Don't want to start THAT old argument again.  It has been beat to death and is never going to change.  If majority rules, then show lines will win out.  Just giving some points to ponder.

Who would you pay money to go see?  A bevy of models (take your pick, males or females), or would you pay to go see some plumbers or asphalt layersdo their thing.  I personally would not pay money to go see some female construction workers work, but would go pay to see some Victoria's Secret models strut.  To each his own.
