Shandra, I most certainly don't suggest "dumping him". I believe my suggestions were pretty clear.

I don't understand why you would have to take the dog back to the prev. owner to have him give a professional opinion. As the previous owner doesn't he know the dog? He may just be trying to side step you with the schedule thing. He doesn't seem to have been entirely forthcoming with you when he sold you the dog. Just be careful that he doesn't try to charge you or something to evaluate the dog. He doesn't seem like a very straight shooter.

Shandra, no one is being vicious to you. No one has any reason to be vicious to you. People are getting exasperated because they are experienced handlers/trainers and you don't necessarily see the warning signs that they do. If you go to the websites of a lot of these people you will see their accomplishments. If you go to LMH's website..well, she doesn't have one and doesn't even list her name (even though everyone knows who she is). Please don't listen to one anonymous person over well respected and accomplished breeders/trainers because that one person said what you wish to hear.

As far as your son and Tino, I haven't said their is strain between them. I said it causes strain in the house.  Remember, the only thing any of us have had to go on is what you have said. You are the one who said your son would be gone in a couple of years but Tino would be with you afterward. Maybe you didn't mean it to come out that way but it did. If we are incorrect in our assumptions please remember that. There has been a lot of thought and effort put into your situation. Truly vicious would be to totally ignore it and let you take your chances.

Please just think about the fact that no one has anything to gain by jerking you around.

Thanks Dawgs, I know everyone is doing their best to advise me with their experience and that is much appreciated. The person that I considered evaluating was a previous owner, not the owner I bought him from.

I am in contact with someone about the possibility of taking Tino, we will see how that works out :)

Well Agar---Little concern for the rescue group or person was noted earlier by me, when you suggested that Shandra pawn off Tino on them.  But then again---you did that yourself...yes???  I handle my responsibilities.  Shandra wants to handle hers.  She requested advice.  I gave my opinion.....which was opposite of yours.  What's the matter?  Someone didn't agree with you------So you go into attack mode.  So typical and so expected.  Are you trying to intimidate me?  Fat chance.

Wake up, Agar.  You advocated destroying a dog you had no REAL knowledge of........Face it........You bit off more than you could chew. Learn to swallow gracefully when things don't always go your way.  Tino needs to be PERSONALLY  evaluated by professionals, and as far as I can see,  being dog savvy isn't really your forte.......leading me to believe your judgment in what makes up a competent professional, also, to be somewhat lacking.  Now, why don't you go 'kiss up' someone who agrees with you.  Better yet, 'kiss up' even if they don't.  They will next time. BTW, initiation is over, yes? (Always good for a laugh......I'll give you that.)

Yellow---Just to be sure about the dog, I'm sure you'd rather see the dog yourself and make a more comprehensive evaluation. I do believe you have extensive knowledge.........but the dog needs to be seen.

ADawg---Sorry...........it's not even worth taking the moment to think of an insult.  The old, anonymous ploy is so lame.  An opinion is an opinion. What is written or said by someone.....if it has value.......will last and be remembered long after the writer is six feet under and forgotten.

Remarkable.........one opposing opinion........and so much dissension. Shandra-----Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll exhaust all avenues to find the best possible solution.

LMH?

Do you think I am a swell headed ghoul?  ohhh, I try so hard, damn!  LOL!

Shhhh, don't tell but I think this dog is misunderstood!  I am not so sure he is a "nerve bag" as someone put it!  Maybe just an immature jerk of a dog that knows how to manipulate a situation!  I think he might need just to work!  A little pinch of nervyness may lead to good defense drive (for SchH) once the dog has some confidence and good leadership!  He needs a leader, and not to be the leader!

Its funny LMH   your initials are the same as the high school i graduated from here in Texas       "Fun '61 "   Our state senator and I were the graduating high school classmates, she was an Honor student,,,I was  only 1/2 of an honor student....Kay Bailey Hutchinson......

When I saw your initials    I took a double take,,,forgetting that is a persons   not my high school ...... I always look for fun things about people and llife....now dogs is a different matter....I am dead serious...but I train    Happy Dogs....It irks me that this person is missing out on a happy fun gsd , and I am probably 35 years your senior , so Ive been all over the dog world and seen the biggest and most notable  , pawn a gsd off on people, that was not up to par , and shouldnt have been sold to anyone....It may be hard for you , to understand that.,,as my side of seeing mega , mega instances of this same cynerio., is probably different from yours....Years down the  road you too, will see what I see....I was new and learned as I went...but Thank God I had some great mentors.....

I dont candy coat anything, nor do I accept excuses for conditions that a shepherd gets into thru the misfortune of wrong breeding, handling and training.....the sad part is that a lot of these pups , if imprinted at 3 ,4 ,5 6  weeks old by the person that bred them,,or even the way the bitch is handled, the way she is kept , the mind set of her owner towards her while she is carrying the pups, and the way the pups entered this world.... was it warm , clean, pleasant , and happy surroundings  including music, and good healthy diet for mom and later the pups.....that is 60 % of what Shandra is dealing with.....the pedigree and the bloodlines are important ,but a lot of what you end up with it what you do with the cookie dough...

Ah....Yes, Yellow....my initials seem to be pretty common.  At least around here, anyway. (LOL) As for your being 35 years my senior.....that would put me at around 30.  I wish. No, Yellow..I'm already years down that road, myself....but any knowledge you might offer, I'm always willing to listen and learn......

Shhhh, PowerHaus, the correct term was swelled-headed ghouls, not swell headed ghoul.  And don't worry....you really don't have to try so hard.......You could achieve success with half the effort, for sure.(LOL)

LMH-maybe they didn't teach you to read at troll school but if you will try to sound out the letters in the first post you will see that the dog WAS evaluated by a trainer. That's kinda the point of the whole thread. See, that's how this whole message forum thing works. One person writes about a situation then other people read it and comment. If you are still confounded you might try the Cliff's Notes version by reading the SUBJECT LINE.
