Hi Melanie,

never stated that you are a liar, sorry if you thought I did. I was refering to the section "knowledge" on your HP. You are stating that some peopel might lia to buyers, and you are showing it, displaying a Hühnegrab Pedigree. To point this out clearly, I did not check your alligation, nor will I, and it does not state that Mr. Scheerer did, but it sure can leave a bad taste in someones mouth.

Kindf Regards Ulli

Ull

I kind of figured out you were talking about that page. People ask me all the time why the same dog has several different hip ratings.  I  copied those off of other peoples websites  who change the hip ratings to what they want. The knowledge page is just that, knowledge for people and buyer beware of people who do this. I'm all for people learning more about their dogs and how to read pedigrees.  Also to compare made up pedigrees to the original ones if you can find a copy. One of the reasons pedigrees here can be wrong which is sad especially when I have the original in front of me.

I'm starting to like rasberry jelly more than strawberry.  When I was a kid I loved the "Goober" stuff, with the peanut butter and jelly in the same jar.

gsds4ever,

No,,,,,to my knowledge no one has jacked with any of MY dog's pedigrees here.  I do recall one occasion that someone stole a picture of one of my dogs and put it on their own dogs pedigree, that pissed me off pretty bad!  I was not saying that Melanie shoud use the Database here but the FREE pedigree generator at SitStay.com.  It is FREE, you plug in your own information......all the details you would like to enter, then they give you a HTML that you just cut and paste and it is 100 PERCENT YOUR INFORMATION!

4Pack,

I did not come off as a whack job when I emailed her!  For you to suggest that is quite out of line!  I don't feel there was a need to ELABORAT any further, the rest frankly is none of your business!  I emailed her READY to buy 1 or 2 puppies.  After I inquired about the puppies I started studying her website.  Saw what I didn't like and asked her about it!  Further thought about it and decided I would look else where!  If it is the pedigree of a litter mate one would not know that!  Why would she not use the correct dogs pedigree if she had both dogs?  Someone asked for info I gave my experience!  So go get your switch fixed!

Don,

You should try some strawberry/ruhbarb preserves!  They are awesome!  Hey, did you hear the GREAT news.....Peter Pan is coming back out soon!  That is my favorite peanutbutter and I have bee suffering with out it!!!!!

John,

as I stated before there are, and there always will be peopel taking short cuts. Yet, I have never met or witnessed that a " Crappy dog " was taken out over the weekend, and had his titles done ! Now, I am not saying that there is no faul play involved at all, but the way your statement sounds, it must be the mayority. And that, by all means is, excuse me, is bulls**t.(Bh,AD,Körung,SchH1, all fake ? You would have to bribe a lot of peopel ! ) Would not mind the beer, but that we drink over here anytime, not only when we train crappy dogs !

Titelt parents are NOT a guarantee that their offspring will titel as well, but at least it shows that the possibillity & chance that they will is there. Not more and not less. We all know that there is much more to it, than just parentage.

Is it really that hard to understand, why the SV has all these regulations ? With a large population like the GSD, we here in Germany would be really quick at the ends of our witts, if these were not there. I am not saying they are perfect, and that everybody should agree with everything but in order to mantain a consistensy within the breed, you just have to have these rules and make sure that they are obyed. Breeding a pair that has not fullfilled these requirements, ( BH,AD,Show result, SchH 1, x-rays HD&ED, DNA, Körung), is just not allowed under the SV. All these requirements are there to ensure the breedworthyness of these animals and are NOT there to bug you. Within the US, it seems that, everybody is just doing what they want to do, one day it is this and the next day we just do something else. And for just that reason, these discussions will never end.

You all have a great weekend - Ulli

So you enter your own information and the wrold is suppose to trust you enetered it correctly?  How many people do you think would lie?  I will always prefer to see the actual pedigree and will search around to get multiple sites that have an actual pedigree to compare them.  Time and again when doing this you fine changes in them.  People don't like to admit there dog is 1/1 or 1/2 or worse.  They conviently leave this information out of pedigrees especially when they do them on their own.

Agreed John,

always is the safest way, if you can read for yourself. Thats why there are Körbooks, Decknachrichten,SIDS , and last but not least, the helpfull peopel at the SV. Just have to do your homework !

Thank you Melanie for clarifying your breeding program. Very much appreciated!

Ulli I certainly wasn't saying tha all dogs with titles are pieces of crap....but more and more of the ones coming out of europe and the checz republic in general are titled and have horrible pedigrees.  the one dog may be ok with the tile in some cases but the littermates are 2/2 .  The parents on both sides have a history of bad hips.  You will see in the future alot more dogs coming out of there that have horrible hip problems and many more health problems.  I'm more familiar with the checz dogs than the german ones.  So i will not say how its done in germany.

Sure you can get an ok dog from there that will do well for working but for breeding purposes you are flirting with disaster, and alot that you get will have hip and other problems in their lives.

I think the bottom line here is know what you're buying, whether its from a titled dog or not.

I'm actually looking into aquiring a pup from an excellent female I know, full sister to a VA female, untitled, who will likely be bred to a police K9. *GASP* 2 untitled parents! But I know what I'm looking for, and what I'm looking at. I would take a dog from that breeding over many, MANY titled breedings. (I would have every intention of titling said puppy, by the way) And if I were going to have myself a pup flown in from somewhere else, to be honest, I don't know those dogs, so I would only buy from titled parents, and even then, research very carefully what I'm buying.

I think for a "newbie" looking to buy their first sport prospect, the smartest move is to buy from a breeders who titles their own dogs, so they can see them work before they commit to buying a dog. I agree with whoever said titles can be bought, they are not the be all and end all of what makes a good dog, however, they do raise the chances that you will get what you're looking for.
