NO NO NO NO NO

NO moderators. For all of the reasons already stated above. Children need to be monitored by their parents and yes they will see worse than we have here, on other sites. If you are afraid your children will hear or read 4 letter words somewhere, you better tie them up and lock them in their closets. I attended Catholic school 1-8 th grade. They are going to hear it at school, on the bus, on the playground. You may as well throw out your computer because all you have to do is misspell a word in the address box and you will take a trip to the wrong site. Get over it. Teach them right, teach them what is out there but they do not have to use those words themselves.

Moderation is censorship and always gets personal in time. Some will be allowed to get away with more than others. That is itself will cause more issue than anything. For those who want moderated boards, we already have plenty out there for you to enjoy! Still, this is the most popular board. Ask yourself why and why would Oli want to change that? The boards I started out on shriveled up and died and I ended up here, where people post daily and their is always something new to read. Yes I may have to weed through some junk sometimes but thats part of the fun sometimes. If I wanted pure education and dry reading, I'd buy a book.

Yes, sorry but I don't feel the kids argument holds water.  Compared to what can be found on the net this website is down right tame.  Also, this site is not geared towards children anyway.  I'm really not comfortable with more censorship.

I could give a flying fxxx about bad language.  I think the mods who were on here for a short time were not respected GSD sport people and had their own personal problems with too many people.  Mods would stop the posters who use this site to carry on stupid vendettas and character assasinations - there are quite a few wackos who have a long history of spewing hate and rudeness and turning every thread into name calling.  There is no reasoning with some of these people and they need to be stomped on for the good of the site.

So let them keep squabbling and slowly losing respect of others. Maybe in a few years down the road, when nobody wants their dogs or to train with them ,they will get it! I just laugh or shake my head and move on to the next post. It's not hard to skip over the junk most of the time.

Please, no moderator!

I could care less about the troublemakers, they are obvious.  But the people who are innocent bystanders and get hurt - that is not fair.  Mods should just be able to kick off the idiots, period.  then the board would self police itself. the dirty pics are funny sometimes, but come on, this is a GSD site.  there are plenty of sites for funny stuff.  go look at them.

OK then let's forget about kids reading this. Frankly it offends me to read vulgar language and to see tasteless photos posted here. If adults cannot express themselves without using 4 letter words on the net and demeaning others it's a pretty sad commentary on the mentality of those who do it. Moderating to me does not mean deleting posts that don't agree with my line of thinking. It means deleting offensive language and photos that poke fun at people who are different and sticking to the subject of dogs in general, the GSD specifically. Too bad it has come to this, but some are just so uncouth that they really don't care who they offend.

"Colorful" language is not offensive to everyone.  If it offends your sensibilities then don't read those threads.  It is what it is - a form of expression.  As I said earlier (basically) "a rose by any other name" and all.  If you are talking about the recent "boob" thread with the pictures, I thought it was funny, so I guess to each his own & all.

by Blitzen on 09 August 2007 - 19:08

I guess so, Sue. I'll shut  up now but I still don't see what boobs and photos of overweight people have to do with GSD's. My problem. seems the rest don't care. Majority rules....have at it, I'm done now.

Who has got hurt from this board? Has anyone been so crushed they sit behind their monitor sobbing? Me, only on the occasional sad post about deceased dogs and tragic stories. I have been pissed, mad beyond the norm, but never "hurt". I'd like to know if anyone has spontaneously spurted blood from their body after reading a post???

Sorry I'm one of the posters incapable of "not" using the occasional 4 letter word. It's not going to stop. Would you like full threads pulled because of a cuss word or just that persons post, so their are skips and misses and the thread ends up not making sense? It is unrealistic for Oli or anyone to be able to monitor all posts in a timely manner. Some people will inevitably read the offensive posts and then others will ask ,what they missed when it is gone. Just doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

When you are in line at the grocery store or getting your car serviced, do you wear ear plugs so you are not offended by others conversations?
