Moderator - good idea or bad? - Page 3

I agree, the boob & fatty pics have nothing to do with GSD's, but it's not like those threads have overtaken the board.  They pop up every now and again, usually at a time when a little levity is needed here! 

I give up, say whatever you want.

I don't think it needs to be moderated.  I"m not a fan of it, but I do think some people could grow up a bit.  But hey, if that's there style, it is what it is.  I can always ignore it.  I prefer to chose what I can and can't read, rather than have someon else "moderating" it for me.

I think we need some moderation and whether we like it or not,,,Oli is going to  : not on those of us that are regulars , the trash that has come on here and is  doing the     post busting....the nasty intruders and those are the ones he will boot off......I believe in privacy and and if we dont want to publish our email ad , the thats ok and should be.....but the invaders that cause most of this , is ridiculous...

It does not represent to the rest of the world , who logs on once in a while...they leave with a bad opinion of those of us , lending good spirits and good info...this is not a friend vs friend , email my buddy , forum:   its a database and we can still have fun and tease and share jokes and pics.....I love the pics of german shepherds  ......nothing wrong with those.....Goose doesnt like it, but he needs to take a look at all the lines that are forthcoming , when you share the pics of all our kids ......it is educational to see everyones gsd, and critique and comment on them....

Get rid of the trolls and the vicious and vulgar ones.......not any of us......If we get mad at one another , we get over it.....but we need to be a little bit nicer and kinder....name calling and four letter words are not really intellegent and they are habit forming....we all slip and fall....but lets just not make a habit of it....something to work on.....when your in trial   you wouldnt dare hollar     shit dam f%%%^&&k or any of those words.....you cant even talk to your dog.....only one or two words are allowed at certain times....and the judges take that seriously...

When I was a youngster, I was exposed to many diverse cultural values and accepted these differences without making value judgments.

As an only child in Germany (where my dad was an Officer in JAG--as a judge) for a couple of years after WWII, I was taken everywhere by my folks--movies, opera, ballet, theater, concerts, museums, cathedrals, castles, hunting, fishing, etc. 

While I was a second grader, my parents even took me to the Folies Bergeres when we visited Paris. So what--I saw nudity--no big deal! 

My dad also took me to his courtroom, where I learned of all sorts of atrocities, the darker side of human nature, and their consequences (often sentences of hanging). 

During the liberation of the death camps, my dad took various photos of the Holocaust  victims (piles of emaciated, naked corpses, etc.)--pretty gross stuff for a kid to see. Later, my dad had me working along side him in our basement darkroom--developing prints from these negatives, spotting the prints, mounting them, framing them, etc.

I was brought up to always tell the truth, to use a good vocabulary and grammar, and was never discouraged from expressing what I have personally experienced, seen, or heard. While there was no vulgarity/obscenity in our home, when I saw it elsewhere, I was not offended.

When I find some of the light-hearted material/photos posted on this board to be downright silly, I just scroll down the thread. How are we to be become tolerant of the vagaries of human behavior and different values if we live life in a bubble?

Yellow I have no problem if Oli where to take IP addresses or screen people someway. Only let people have one log in name, or ban them for flagrant misconduct. I'd actually welcome that. I too have noticed the increase in new, throw away screen names that hijack threads for a day, never to be seen again. Just not sure what Oli is capable of doing or not.

I think moderators are a bad idea for this site. I have been to others and find them quite boring and I always come back to this one. If you don't like what your reading you can always click it off. There are always going to be a few a-holes out there who try to ruin it for everybody so you just have to ignore them and they will go away. someone said they didn't like pictures on here, I really like being able to ad pictures to text because it's nice to see pictures of peoples dogs or the people themselves. I always try to figure out what people might look like from there posts and a few of the woman have posted there pictures and it was cool to put a face to a screen name. If some of the pictures annoy you just ignore it.

Excellent idea.  I'd definately go for that -

I nominate Desertrangers to be the Moderator and will list the reasons you should vote for me.

1. I will not tolerate the elite educated crowd who like to insult people for their spelling and grammer.

2. I will not tolerate un-warranted attacks against breeders or anyone. You must send me proof of a wrong doing and communiciate if possible with the person you are aiming charges against.

3. I will not tolerate you insutling others then getting mad when they direct a four letter word at you.

4. I will not tolerate people posting ads for inferior dogs unless you advertise them as such.

5. i will not tolerate snotty people. 

6. I will tolerate pics of babes in bathing suits.
