That's really awful.   I don't let kids near my dogs face ever and he is a stable dog.  If a child asks to pet my dog and is with it's parents I will sometimes let them run their hand down his back but I always keep myself between the kid and my dogs head.  You just never know,  things can go down in the blink of an eye and there stands a bitten child.

Yellow Rose, I am sorry you feel that way about me. Owning 3 Pit Bulls currently and having them around me and my family my whole life I can see the difference between a dog that is starving for attention and one that wants to eat you. Pits are strong dogs and when they are roughed around they learn that to be exceptable behavior. Strong leadership is what these dogs need. They need a job. These dogs are much happier when they are put to work. It is so sad that you have no compassion for these dogs.

OK has anyone else watched the video? ? I have a problem with this video clip as it was edited . The lady said

"Her friend come up running up and said Destiny dog" and it cuts off  (video .39-.42 seconds) there is more to the story that is not being told

Again her mother was not around!!!!!!! She left her child in a yard with a pit bull tied to the fence SHE IS STUPID. The parent should be CHARGED!!!!

A friend of mine who's an officer has a pitt bull and he has a 3 year old daughter, he says the dogs a big baby.  He was a k9 handler and has been training dogs for many many years.  I personally don't like the breed but not because it's gotten a bad name I just don't like the look of the dog, JMO.  I was talking to a guy today on the job who also has a pitt bull- he's an older gentlemen, professional, I would have never guessed he'd own a pit but he too told me his dog is very sweet, loves everyone especially the mail carrier because every day she greets him at the door for her bone. lol  I think any dog is able to be dangerous that's kept confined, chained and stressed on a daily basis.  Problem is some breeds can do far more damage on a bite than others.

Since we're talking about pitt bulls...is it true that when a pitt bull bites it's totally different than getting bit by any other breed?  I heard their jaws lock and they just tear and shred you rather than bite and release.  Is this myth or fact?

I'm sorry, but give me a break. I don't have an ounce of pity for a dog that can do this. I've trained some pit sthat were perfectly nice, friendly, dogs, and some that were straight up loose in their damn heads.  Yes, the child never should have been left near the dog. And no, the owner should have NEVER had that dog on a chain. A dog that would tear apart a child should never have existed. I blame the mother, the owner, and the breeder, they are ALL at fault here.

And my 11 year old daughter comes to work with me regularly, she is even allowed to proof some of the nicer dogs that are ready to go home. And I would NEVER EVER allow her to work or touch or go anywhere near a dog of ANY breed that the owners, myself, or anyone else has had aggression problems with.

This "Oh the poor pits bulls, they arent mean, its the owners" sob story is every bit as ignorant as the concept of BSL itself and the people who think certain breeds are all mean and should be banned.  Is there no one in the middle with any damn common sense?

The poor dog is dead? Are we talking about the same dog who just mauled 2 people, one of them a CHILD? How about the poor little girl who needs multiple surgeries and will likely be disfigured her whole life?
