Interesting how such a simple concept of limited vs. full registration can bring out such emotional responses.

If I were a breeder I'd definitely offer limited and full registration, as appropriate.  But Gawd forbid I misspell a word in my ad, or don't "wordsmith" it just the right way.  I'd get torn to shreads over trivial details, wouldn't I?

Maybe I should stick with the Malinois after all.

The pen is a mighty sword!

Actually it is..." the pen is mightier than the sword".

I think all pups should be sold on limited registrations. It is the closest thing we can do, to enforce rules somewhat like the SV. If AKC won't do it, it is up to the individual breeders to step up. At first I really bawked at this but now I think it is the best thing a breeder can do, to ensure your dogs stay somewhat within the standard and buyers live up to their promisses. Lifting the limited Reg is easy enough to do and it ensures so much. I don't want my puppies bred at a year old with no OFA's and their ears are soft. Joe General public doesn't always have his thinking cap on or know enough to make the right decisions. I think this is the best way to turn things around for this breed. The only other option would be to spay/neuter at 8 weeks and I am not going to push that on any dog/owner or breeder. Besides many pups who's drives didn't look all too hot at 8 weeks will turn around and be the "stuff" at 2 yrs of age. I have also seen some really ugly pups turn out beautiful months down the road. I have also seen some great pups look like crap witha few more months on them.

Trafalgar:  hahaha, you are so right!  The villiage idiot got called out on one of her lies, so consequently she is nothing but a hater and  makes these feeble obsesive attempts at character assasination.  Fortunately, one only has to read a few of her posts to realize she is looney tunes.

Personally, I don't buy dogs on limited registration, neither would I breed a dog unless he was superior in the work and breed surveyed.

sueincc,

I think in this country, that you are the exception to the rule when it comes to not breeding a dog. I had a guy tell me that he didn't care if it was limited registration or not, he "didn't want to AKC register the pups anyway".  LOL!

It is so nice when someone opens mouth and inserts foot and you don't have to do any investigation whatsoever.  ;)

Personally, I would NEVER purchase a dog on a limited registration again. WHY???

Well, two different situations.

First one. We finished the bitch to a Sch 1 title went to have the breeder release her limited registration. The breeder decided she didn't want anymore puppies born and brought into this cruel world. I lost.

Second one.

We did it again. I got full agreement that I would have limited registration lifted upon good hips and a title on the dog. We spent two years on this dog and I sent all the necessary paperwork to the owner.

He said he'd release dog like agreed. That very day he decided to take a motorcycle ride and kill himself. Never mind the agreement. It didn't make a difference as the wife wanted nothing to do with the dogs and said she didn't know where the paperwork was kept.

I lost again.

So I WILL NEVER EVER buy another dog on a limited registration PERIOD. This seems to be a ploy mostly by Americans so I don't buy local ever. If the site says limited registration I don't even ask.

If I spend the money for the dog. I want full rights. I am a responsible person and know my dogs need hips and some kind of title before I breed it. It's kind of like buying property and have an association dictate what you can do with it. NO WAY Ever!

It's never worked out good for me and burned twice was enough.

I have always wandered why males and females are priced different myself, I don't understand, how do you determine the pricing on that?
