Just saw this and made my choices real fast......as if studying these dogs would really make my choices better.  Gotta say I'm confused over the American dogs in the 1st thread.  Would love to know the ancestry of those American dogs.  My experiences with American's have always been showlines.  Well, here goes:

1--mix (A/G)

2--C

3--G

4--A

5--A

6--G

7--G

8--A

9--G

10--A

LMH:  just so you know as you might have missed it.  The person running this contest gave us a hint that two of the dogs are mixes.  You might want to revise.  (what the heck is wrong with me, giving advise to the competition).  Yep.  I'm not the brightest light bulb on the Christmas tree, for sure.

Well, DoRight----Goes to show you how bright my bulb is........didn't even read anything but the first post before responding-----was frightened I wouldn't beat a cutoff deadline. (Was there even one?)

If I had to guess a second mix, it would probably be a tossup between 5 and 10. I better just stick with my choices.......it's probably 5.....Oh, forget it.(LOL)

WOW  this is stumping a lot of you .

DO right the reason I did the first one was there are a lot of people that think ALL  American dogs look like this

Shinny body, no chest,  tiny thin heads, and deformed movement. But there are some American breeders that actually breed some really nice dogs that most of you)s) are calling Gernan and Czech. And thier dogs actually work. Most people that comment on the other thread said nice "pet dog" but most of the American dogs that I have been posting are actually used to work - no not in SchH but as Therapy, Obedience, tracking, S&R, PP, Police,. Again not trying to sell or say all are like that but there are some.

But I am working on another one to really test your knowledge in your German world  LOL

LMH, I didn't see this "1st game", but I can tell you there is more than 1 "American", just like German.  There are the poor showlines, divided into "specialty" (yikes) and all-breed (often much better), but then there are the "regular dogs" who are just pets and have been largely for generations.  See the "critique my American bitch" thread.  I call these the "old-fashioned" type which I think is by far the best and definitely correct type compared to all the others.  I'd bet there are "regular dogs" in Germany, too, somewhere, who don't get any accolades by the cliques.

OK, I feel as if I'm cheating, because you gave some hints by now.  I had answers before seeing the hints, and have revised.  But I can't help adding in commentary about my revisions.  Don't worry, just judge on my final answers!

1)  American (suspected German mix, with apparent roach back, but this is a sitting pix which could be distorted pose)

2) Czech

3) German

4) American (suspected might be German mix, but could be old-fashioned plain American instead)

5) German

6) German

7) Czech/German mix

8) American (thought maybe Czech in there, with general build and sabling, but doesn't have to be)

9) American

10) American/German mix

NAME the dog?  Geesh, there are thousands from the past!

How about just putting up the "famous" or "great" dogs and see if people actually know their bloodlines, like these?

Or will you do multiple choice?  :D

by leftbarrrelsam on 01 October 2007 - 20:10

For thoses of us newbies who haven't a clue it sure would be nice if some of you said what is about theses dogs that make you think they are Am, Ger or Czech: what characteristics are you making your choices on?  PLEASE help educate the newbies. Thanks!
