Who's Posts Do YOU Look for? - Page 3

Oh yeah....hopefully no one thinks im one of the "bad people" on this board...do they??

I don't necesarrilly  look so much for those 40 years in it,   I look more for the common sense of a post....  the senserity in a question....  the honesty in a response.... The kindness toward one another that SHOULD be shown....

Bob-0  is my all time favorite poster,  Never posts with malice or emotion,  just PURE knowledge and sensible understandable (without bashing) posts that make people stop and think !!

Shelly Strohl,  YellowRose, DH, Trailrider, Eichenluft, Von Hayden, VomFelsenHof,  Blitzen, Triodegirl, and iluvmyGSD are all among posters I enjoy reading,  I am quite sure there are some I have missed,  I appologize for that...  

I enjoy reading anything that is helpful.   I do enjoy reading about and getting involved in those things that directly effect me or my line of work, or my ability to own/train dogs..... ie  some of the news stories we have seen this past year.

I would love to see this board come together as a community of people with recognition that we have common ground,  and that as a whole we COULD accomplish so much more....   I will hold hope for that day.

I always scan the board for your posts Shelley! And by topic, looking for information, or answers to questions that I've been wondering about. There's so much info on here that sometimes I just browse the posts, rather than risk posting a question I know I'll get bashed for, LOL, jo

I try to read things that interest me but I ALWAYS look for Bob-O as the best advice on this board.  I take his word as gospel.  I can count on one hand, no make that two, the ones who contribute nothing but negativity and insults on this board.  I find if I just don't bother with those posters (as one wise poster says "don't feed the trolls!) that everyone else on here is decent and helpful.  For humor I look for Don Corleone.  You know, there's actually too many to name on here that are helpful without leaving some out.  I think the ones that stick out in my mind are the ones I DON'T care to read what they have to say.

I look for the topic, not the poster, however, I find the most informative postings from Bob-O, D.H. , OlskoolGSD's, eichenluft (Molly) and Ulli (I forget his screen name).

I do find it distasteful sometimes and I want to quit coming to this sight when it breaks down to name calling and CAPITAL LETTERS.  But then, I come back, looking for more knowledge and tips.

Seems to me that since there are many posters here but many, many more readers, that we could all do something together.  Maybe have a fund raiser to purchase (or donate) and pay for the training of a seeing eye dog, bomb dog, or some other such type thing.  Wouldn't it be fun to talk for months about the progress of "our" dog in training, and then have some pictures of the "presentation" of "our" dog to some needy person, wherever in the world he or she may be.  I would give money to something like that.  Sure, we all help out now and then when something comes along, but if we had one dog to follow, it would be so cool.  We could even raffle off a pup, to raise this money.  I would be willing to put in 20 or 30 bucks to buy a pup for the raffle, and then I would purchase some raffle chances to win that pup.  A youtube video of the winning raffle name being picked, could be made.

I would send the money to Bob-O, D.H. or any of several other regulars on this site.

this is hard. i sometimes just read or answer threads that are pertinent to me ( how self-centered), but when i'm "lurking" i really enjoy don corleone for his off the wall remarks and also for his serious stuff; kalibeck for her sage advice and her kick-butt recipes (hint), yellowrose, 1doggie2, blitzen, bob-o for more good practical dog info, luvmydog for her zany LUV for her boss!; i don't feel quite like such a goof about my dog when i read her posts (you go girl!), shelley for being probably (imho) the most calm, measured responder (altho some others come close -they rarely ever get into it with some of the "trolls"), some of the (even newer than me) people, cuz they ask questions i forget to or just dont think to. schhbabe, gard, 4pack seem to offer lots of good stuff too. and yes, 4pack. i'm shocked, shocked! but you're pretty funny unless somebody really riles you up. there are really alot more interesting and informative people than not, i think, so please forgive if i didnt mention you. do right is good like 4pack; until somebody riles him up! i know we all have our specific interests, but sometimes they overlap and that's where i learn the most. jmho and i mean that - i've learned more good practical gsd info here than anywhere.

do-right...maybe a stupid idea, but there has benn one ive been tossing around in my head....I hear lots of comments on here about yall hanging out after club meetings and drinking a few beers...Im also sure that everyone probably drinks can cokes and such throughout the time there....why not have a seperate disposial area for all the cans, and each club save the cans, maybe monthly someone with a trailer/big truck haul the cans in, to be turned back in for the money....Ive heard you can get anywhere from 25c to 75c per pound....with so many people contributing, im sure the cans will add up in no time...

Now days, there is always someone who is already collecting those cans for a little profit.  But, I could be wrong.  There are many of us out here that do not belong to clubs.
