My name is Kim,  I live in Northern California.  I am 39 years old and am not married.  Nor do I have human children.  I grew up with horses and one dog,  I showed Western Pleasure and also rode Gymkhana.  I have had dozens of horses over the years, until 2 years ago, when I sold my last one and hung up my spurs, so to speak.  I was spending so much more time with my dogs, that i made the decision to not spend the money on something I wasnt using.  So far no regrets.  I love my dogs.  I have had German Shepherds since my early 20's.  And also have had at least one Pembroke Welsh Corgi since then also.  I currently have 4 German Shepherds.  2 are Full DDR, which is what I started out with 19 yrs ago.  1 is a Showline German Shepherd, and also have a 3/4 DDR 1/4 Working line rescue, that I am looking for a home for.  I also have 2 Corgi's at this time, one that is bred and due anyday.  She has had 2 previous litters of 12 and 11.  She is HUGE again, so I expect another dozen or so.  She is amazing, feeds them all and is an excellent mom.  I feed the heck out of her, but I havent ever had to supplement her pups.  I also have a little fox terrier cross, he was running down the Highway and I couldnt leave him.  I have had him for about 4 and 1/2 years so far.

I work at a hospital in the billing dept.  Where I have worked for 17 years.  I am currently off work with a torn Achilles Tendon.  It is the pitts.  But at least this way I will be home 24/7 with this litter of pups.  I just cant do anything other than take care of the dogs in the house, by scooting around in a desk chair.  The Dr wont even let me drive.  I am off work for another month so far.

Sorry for all the rambling.. I am REALLY bored, so I am on this site about 20 times during the day right now.

As far as training my dogs,  I did Schutzhund with my Second German Shepherd, named Judd.  He was an awesome dog, unfortunetly he had bad Hips.  I was able to title him to a Sch 1 and also did SAR with him for 2 years.  He was so much fun to work, had tons of drive and was so willing to do anything I asked him.  He passed away almost 3 months ago.

I have also done Schutzhund with some of my other dogs, but currently my Showline female is the only one that is titled.  She is 5 yrs and just got bred to a Pakros son.  I am not for sure if she is bred yet, it has only been a few weeks.

I also have a few Persian cats and some strays that run around outside and eat the mice in the barn.  and a few misc chickens to give the dogs something to do, search for eggs..

Ok i will quit..   I really love this site, and come here often for advise and information.  I would be lost without it.

Thanks everyone for sharing.  Its nice to know your out there..

I did this before and Oli deleted it, not sure why.  I am 54, w/m, married the cute little girl that lived across the street from me and been with her since I was 9 and she was 7.  Three adult sons, one near me, one in Cleveland area and one in San Antonio, in the Air Force.

My mother re-married to a Chinese man and thus I have three sisters and a brother that are half Chinese. I have a full brother two years younger that lives in Cincinnati.  One sister is an Actress and my half brother plays pro baseball.

I served in the Marines Corps and the Navy, and I am a retired cop (Lieutenant) from Cleveland.  Done it all in on the police force but the most fun I had was working undercover as a narc for 9 years.  I specialized in operating the surveillance equipment for two of those 9 years (and believe me when I tell you, someone is ALWAYS listening or watching  when you are up to no good).

I just recently got a part time job at the local YMCA as the property manager.  I was a member and going there five days a week (like I said, I'm retired), and was talking with the director and he offered me the job, with the stipulation that I could work as little or as much as I wanted, when I wanted.  I couldn't turn it down.  Doesn't pay much, but I like it.

I am a basketball nut, used to play a lot and played on some local teams with former and later to be NBA players, but I was the last guy off the bench , and now referee during the season.  I also collect comic books and have one of the best collections around.  I buy and sell them on Ebay when the mood strikes me.

I was recognized and honored by the U.S. Congress (108th Congress) for a couple of police things, and was well known in the Cleveland area.  My partner and I were known as the "pop cops", because my code name was "coke" and his was "pepsi".  Mostly known by the DEA, FBI, CPD and the bad guys dealing narcotics.  Been on CNN a couple of times, once when I arrested the Cleveland State Basketball coach, Kevin Mackey for heroin.

Now to the most important part of my life.  My wife.  She is darn near perfect (for me anyway).  Puts up with my dogs, comics and moods.  Always has a smile on her face (hmmm, wonder what she is up too ), and deserves way better than me.  She works 30 hours a week and loves her job as a nurse.  People call her Sunshine because that is how she is.

I could go on and on taking about myself  and my family, but that is enough.  Love my dogs and love my life.  I'm a lucky man.

13 year old female in central Massachusetts. I'm in 8th grade.
I have a 14 yr old female, Standard American Eskimo - Frosty, a 4 yr old male Common Corn Snake - Jynx, a 1 yr old male Ball Python - Tyger, and a 4-5 month old male, shorthaired Golden Hamster - Wisper.
I love dogs and enjoy playing video games and using the Internet regularly. I also enjoy snowboarding, swimming and horse back riding.
Some of my favorite breeds are German Shepherd Dogs (of course), Pomeranians, American Eskimos, Rhodesian Ridgebacks and Greyhounds. I like cats too, but not as much..
I'm usually happy and outgoing, but shy at the same time and nice.
I like spending time with and training dogs and hanging out with my friends.

Good idea SW for posting this thread, thanx!

Never really thought about that there might be 13 year old girls coming to this site.  That bothers me, considering some of the pics and language that has been on here.  Nothing against you gsdlova, but this site, as with most internet sites, can be nasty sometimes.  Gotta watch my humorous remarks better in the future, and hope that some of the adults here "change".

by Sparrow on 06 October 2007 - 18:10

I agree Do right,  I didn't realize she was that young!  I don't use bad language but that's the least of problems for 13 yos on the net.  Actually, even with the bickering and language, this is a safe site compared to some.  Rather she come here than to chat rooms where worse lurk, if you know what I mean.

gsdlova, your posts are very well written for one your age.  You have a good head on your shoulders, stay that way and you'll go far in life, preferably with a loving GSD by your side.  You nust be a really good kid, I'm sure your parents are very proud of you!

This is nice to get to know everyone behind the screen names !

I'm Lorna, 47, married 20 years next Valentines Day, no children (not by choice) but lots of pets.  My husband and I ran a commercial landscape biz in Palm Beach County, Florida for 20 years until we had to sell it last Nov when he broke his back.  Now he's looking for the "what's next" part of life.

We bought 25 beautiful acres of land in middle Tennessee and that is our goal, trying to sell home in FL and get up there where there is cleaner air & water & lots more room for us & our awesome German Shepherds.  Our retirement plans were to eventually sell off and build home in TN and raise these great dogs - got a surprise change of tactics with his broken back.

I was raised in the NY Catskills and it was teeming with wildlife.  I wanted to be a veternarian as a child as I loved anything to do with any kind of animals but have an unusual fear of needles, hence no vet job!

Lived in North Carolina my young adult years, worked as engineer aid at nuclear power plant, joined Air Force and spent 2 years in England and Germany.

We raised Rottweillers and Chows until the last one passed at 13 yrs old 4 yrs ago and we started studying German Shepherds.  Looked locally and surfed the internet for a year before we found our "kids".  Could never be a large breeder because I could not leave them outside 24/7 - they are all a part of the family and the love we get from them makes up for the empty nest sadness.  We are started in Schutzhund with promising results so far but my real passion is SAR or other service work like Therapy, etc.

I am a Christian, raised in the faith and strive to make my Lord proud of me daily.  I believe in honesty, good ethics, sharing what I have with less fortunate, helping others whenever I can, doing the best I humanly can with what the Lord hands me and most of all - spreading smiles and joy wherever I go.  But most of all I strive to stay humble, open to learning and experiencing life - good or bad (it's all about the attitude)....

I love this database and have learned an enormous amount, staying busy applying what I am learning.

Thank you all for sharing.

I am 45 year old female, widowed 2.5 years ago.  We were married 19 years and together for 25.  Born north of N.Y. City, but have lived in MI most of my life.  City born, but country at heart, I live on a small farm, 120 acres.

Have worked with horses most of my life and became very interested in beef cattle when in college.  Raised very good hormone/antibiotic free beef until the year my husband died.  Right now I am trying to decide what I want to do next to make money.

My main interests are my dogs.  I compete in SchH and do some AKC obedience.  Love tracking and doing other scent work.  I am also an avid reader and enjoy good movies.  No kids, but I do have a sister and a nephew.   Other interests: I have been  a Yankee's fan all my life and love watching the Michigan Wolverines lose.  :)   I also shoot on occasion.   I also love to read political discussion boards (along with the GSD boards).

This sounds a bit like answering the questions on one of those match.com type boards.  LOL

Shepherd Woman you are the BOMB. You are courageous, fearless and have a good spirit. I bet many of us on this site (including me) have thought of what everyone else was like.  KUDOS to you for having the guts to put it out there. You also did the send the 6 month photos too, again a lot of us want to show off our dogs you gave us a venue to do it. So thank you Shepherd Woman for being the woman I'm sometimes afraid to be, for putting yourself out there not afraid of rejection. Even when you didn't get posts back, you said HEY GUYS what's up and now look at all the responses. Thank you again.
