I have been feeding Orijen now for 6 months my GSD loves it and he looks and feels great.

by roborob on 09 February 2008 - 23:02

We also have been using Orijen Adult  for over 8 months and we have nothing but positive things to say about it, first look at the ingredients, then look at the dog...Everyone we know who has tried it has made the switch from whatever they were using to Orijen...Its the best dry kibble available...We pay $45.00 for a 30 lbs bag, I can buy it locally...I made the decision that with all the bs and recalls resulting in too many dogs dying, I would get what I considered to be the best dry kibble I could find from a company I could live with and trust...This is what works for me...

Part of what did it for me was the dogs poops were firm, she was and is consistant,  2 poops a day and very easy to pick up with little odor...Since we do pick up after she does her business no matter where it is, it is important to us...You try getting a stinky blob of dog crap into a plastic bag...Makes me wonder if a connection can be made between people who don't pick after their dog/s and the loose smelly turds their dogs are having...???Too each their own until you step in someone elses dogs crap in your yard...

 Orijen=good stuff...

  Have a good night,

  Rob

I feed mostly RAW but have been using Orijen for about 8 months. Mostly for my sons dog,  and a little here and there on mine. They do like it and I have caught my year old with her head in the bag munching away. My drawback is I have to have it shipped. I get it from K-9 Cuisine.com. It just did a $5 a bag jump so its now $65 a bag with the shipping.

Roborob where are you getting yours for $45.00?? You are sooo lucky!

by Larrydee on 10 February 2008 - 14:02

I'm paynig $54.00 for a bag of Orijen but I buy it one mile from my house.    I finally convined my dealer to try it now she tells me she is selling so much of it she is going to change the name of her store to the Orijen store.

This is not brain surgery roborob is right do your homework and you will come to the same conclusion we did.  Orijen is the best kibble presently on the market.

I remeber when I told roborob about Orijen he was very leery but wanted the best for his dogs so he tried it and listen to him now.

Luckily for us buying Orijen is no more than a 10 min ride from the house and is available from most of the places that sell dog food/s...We were been paying $42.00 a bag until this past week when I went to pick up a new bag and found out that Orijen had raised their price to $45.00 for a 30 lb bag...Still not too bad for what is becoming a very popular dry kibble that more and more people who try it wind up using...

We are located in central Florida on the west coast where its harder to find a Shutzhund club than it is to find quality dog foods...

Hey Larrydee, good to see you're still with the Orijen, how about the Canine Complete...???

 Its all good, yes...

I love the Canine Complete it goes really well with the Orijen.  Orijen says its a complete food but I'm paranoid so add the Canine Complete.  I sleep better at night  LOL

You guys are lucky, I wish someone around here carried it. I wonder if I could talk one of the pet food stores in Missoula to give it a try.....? I think I will make a call on Monday.

Trailrider

It took me months to talk my local dog food store to carry Orijen.    But she billed her store premium dog food only the best.   I told her if that was the theme of her store she better look into Orijen.  I'd stop in their once a week and buy bully sticks for Gunner she kept trying to sell me some other brand of kibble.   I told her I bought my Orijen thru mail order and when she started carrying Orijen I would buy it from her.

Every day I walk my dog and people would ask your dog has such a beauitful coat what do you feed  him.  Orijen    Then I would tell them go tell the lady up the street to carry it..    It took awhile and was a process but now it's worth it.  I buy my Orijen a mile from where I live.

I also talked one of the local pet food stores near me into carrying Orijen so i could "shop" there, I even told her what I was paying and she said she would beat that price if i was a "frequent buyer"...I assured her we went through a large bag a month and she now carries all sized bags as well as all the different kinds of Orijen...Now i have 2 places within 5 miles of the house where I can get what I want for the $45.00 I mentioned earlier...

Like Larrydee said; when we are out on walks people who don't know us will approach and tell us what a gorgeous coat the dog has (she is Blk/red and not that many people know anytyhing other than blk/tan)...The dog does not have any allergies, no scratching and almost no shedding...Then there are those perfect poops that are easy to pick up and dispose of...Then of course there is the ease of feeding, knowing that the dog is getting the best I can give her along with her good health...Our vet asked what we were feeding and when I told her she had never heard of it before, I brought her an empty bag and now she knows all about Orijen...

I'd Ask the local vendor/s if they could get it and carry it for you as what do you have to lose...Nothing...I do know that some of the on line vendors will ship for free, at least I know Timberwlof Organics will...If you have to buy on line let them know you'll buy but see no reason to pay for shipping/handling, again what do you have to lose...If i wasn't using Orijen, I would be using Timberwolf Organics, another very good dry kibble but more expensive...

  Have a good one,

  Rob

The shipping is free for all items over $50.00 at K9cuisine.com , the problem is it just went up to the $64.99 a bag, it was $59.99.... I was just going to order but came here to see if either of you guys had any ideas for me to get it for less. I will call tomorrow and ask the closest pet store I go to (known her for years, she puts on AKC type fun matches too) if she would give it a try getting it in her store and see what she says. Meanwhile back to my online store so I can get a bag, almost out....I also have ordered a 8# bag of dehydrated Sojos Europa. Has anyone here tried it to go with RAW?
