That's exactly what I'm talking about.  And if you really think about it, Shandra was exhibiting symptoms the day after her exposure.  Now if those puppies were so "contaminated" don't you think they would be either really sick or dead by now?  I think they have had exposure and are in need of treatment or at the very least, assessment, for THEIR sake.  Can't they wear some kind of protective clothing and a breathing apparatus to at least check them?  And yes, she did also say that Tino has something wrong with one of his paws.  I just can't imaging, letting them to fend completely for themselves other than throwing food over a fence.  This has just gone beyond the realm of what is humane.

I have a friend whos wife works for EPA in Atlanta Georgia, maybe I should try to talk to her and see if there is any thing that can be done for the puppies. I don't know if she can do anything but it might be worth trying.

It is a good question about what the boy was doing with a bottle of mercury? Just what did he intend to do with it? My guess, pure speculation, is that it was for something that wasnt good. Shandra, without crossing any lines here, please be careful about what is going on.  :)

The questions concerning the mercury are something that will come out eventually, although I don't know any 14 year old boy (at the time it was given to him) that would refuse something so cool.  I played with mercury in very small amount when I was a child it was irresistable, pretty neat stuff.  I'm sure he had no idea it was lethal.  But, beyond that, we need to get help for these dogs!  She and her son's health of course came first and they are being evaluated but it's WAY past time for those dogs to have the help they need.  It's time to concentrate on these innocent animals who need not only medical assessment but also bonding with humans, they're time is running out!  GreatestGSD, if you can, please contact who you know to see if we can get something done, anything at this point is better than letting this go on.

Hi all! As far as the mercury goes, it's fun to play with.  It used to be called quicksilver, & I can remember playing with a drop of mercury in school, given to us by our science teacher. It is very heavy, a very high molecular weight, & must have a very high surface tension, becaase it beads up  & runs very quickly to the lowest point it can find. It is in the 'silver' fillings in our teeth & used in thermometers, though not so much now for either.................I imagine there's a lot of it just sitting around in storerooms noone knew how toxic it could be just a few years ago.I have sent Yellowrose the forms for the home makeover, & I spoke to Shandra (via PM) the other day, but I haven't heard back from her, anyone know if she's alright??? I tried faxing some stuff to her, but my fax machine wouldn't work...sigh...jackie harris

I heard from YellowRose that her (Shandra's) sister has come to help, she may be busy with getting done as much as she can as long as she has someone there.  I think she was supposed to get some test results back today too so maybe she's just tied up.  Let me know if you hear anything and I will do the same.

Ok, I talked to the lady I know at EPA, she is going to talk to someone in that district, being she is in Atlanta it is not her district. I told her of all of our concerns on the puppies and dogs that have not been remove from the contamination on the property, she told me that she will call as soon as she hears from the person in that district. I will let everyone know what she tells me as soon as she calls me. Maggie
