>Urkas vom Stadtfeld Is a handsome dog, but can you say "holy linebreeding, Batman."Kyle

I agree Robin..LOL. Actually, I don't think it's that bad, the way the pedigree dbase software is set up, the linebreeding stat repeats; meaning the parents of the linebred dog comes up again which they shouldn't. I think this working line litter of Metin, Oktay, Rayjo, Urkas from the M, O, R, S, T and U Stadtfeld repeat litters are noteworthy in the consistency of their excellence. I think working line breeders wanting to improve on conformation and looks s/d consider them in their breedings; and showline breeders wanting to improve on working ability s/d do so likewise. Hint: there's quite a bit of Marko Cellerland here, w/c is rare these days but something worth bringing back to BOTH lines.

GoldenElk/ 4pack,
Have you seen her work. She works as good as she looks. To me Tyna,( I think her pedigree reads Tyna) is the whole package. If I remember she will do civil, many of the Czech dogs will do both sport and can be worked civil.

Just an historical footnote: Erich Grafenworth is quite elderly in that photo.  I'm afraid I'm technologically challanged at the moment and can't paste a younger photo of Erich on this thread.

PS.  Shelly and Molly--those Eagle ex Gabi pups will should be super workers AND good looking.  Look forward to seeing them on the trial fields in a few years!

Olskoolgsds - No, I have not had the fortune to see her work personally, only from a video on Jiri's website: http://www.jinopo.cz/video/tyna/tyna_opava1.wmv

Here is Tina's pedigree http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/482881.html, it appears the spelling using an "i" is correct. Her name is also spelled that way on Jiri's site, but in the title of her video it's spelled "Tyna". The "i" may be the english expression.

I dont think working lines are ugly, but rather many out there are ugly due to many working line breeders not caring about conformation. Those working line breeders that also breed for conformation have some awesome looking dogs. For me it is the whole package.... working or showline they must have drive and conformation no matter if they are working line or showline. My showline does it all, and I am looking a working line pup now.... I love gsds!

I am excited about the Eagle x Gabi litter too. Gabi has produced some nice dogs, often titled/KK1 at age two. They don't show up on the dB but they are doing well in Germany, several featured (not always updated/current) on the Arolser Holz website.  Gabi has big litters. Hopefully we can get most/all of  these pups into good working homes where they can achieve their potential! I hope all the males get Eagle's big, beautiful head! No question what color they'll be. There's a chance Gabi carries black recessive, but thus far she has not produced black, despite being bred to Carol twice, who does produce black.

Shelley, when is this litter due? It really sounds like an exciting litter, I hope you are keeping one so I can watch & learn from the best! As far as Dragon goes, he has no long list of titles after his name, which could just mean his page wasn't updated...& he recently passed away..so far I haven't found any of his progeny, 'tho one of the ladies that posts here has, I believe, a grandson, so they're out there...here's the linebreeding on Dragon

" I understand that women may find a construction worker more appealing in an animalistic sense, however, would they really take one for marriage over a doctor?  I don't think so, in the majority of the cases. "

Hee hee.  OK, just gotta chime in here on this comment.... my Ex was an engineer, and a high flying manager for Exxon.  We had it all, the big house on the cul-de-sac with the white columns out front and the Mexican tile in the kitchen.  On the surface, we had everything going for us, but below the surface there was no heart to back it up.

Left him.  Gave it all up.  Moved to West Virginia and now happily married to a professional fire fighter making crap wages to run into a burning building to save a perfect stranger.  What's the point?

It's not what's on the surface, that counts... it's what in the heart that matters.  A dog with energy and enthusiasm, that loves to work, and work hard, not THAT is a beautiful sight.  At a recent trial I observed, the High In Trial award went to a small female Dobie who executed all 3 phases with power and purpose.  That little bitch whooped up on all the shepherds, Show and WL alike, and I would have been proud to have her as mine.

It's beyond me why folks would feel the need to compromise, breeding to a "VA" male that lacks work ethic when there are many "V" and "SG" dogs on both sides of the fence that can, and do work

    Yvette
