Jackie, I truly hope you are not going to take any of this personally as some obviously hope you do judging by their posts above.  Those who don't like to see photos are just voicing their opinions about where they think this breed board is heading. At one time most posting here were died-in-the-wool trainers and breeders who were here for serious training and breeding topics. With the revamping of the board by Oli and the addition of the capability to post photos, many feel the PDB is being abused and is no longer serving it's intended purpose. Most of them no longer post here much anymore as they have left to go to other boards that are moderated against personal discussions of any type.

We just need now to agree to disagree and move on and stop making it into a personal issue by piling on and trying to agitate and bully others. As for me, if I knew how, I'd post some photos myself .

Aweee Blitz, we can teach ya lol.  I know that a lot of people have posted how to before.  Photoshop save them online and then when you want to make a post, click on the little yellow box up above where you are typing and copy and paste the link to photoshop from the picture.  Easy as that.  We would actually love to see some photos of your dogs!

Jackie, nobody minds the occasional post of a picture, we all enjoy looking at others dogs and what they do.  It's the same couple people posting multiple pictures everyweek of oh isn't he wonderful.  That is what the photo gallery is for, post all the pictures you want but some do get tired of seeing the same dog so many times.

Ditto, animules. Well put.

I'm one of the people that remember when this board was chock filled of good information.  Training, breeding, health............  Some of the top people in their respective areas posted on it.

If I remember correctly the site was originally designed for pedigree research, and the posts reflected that.  You could actually learn about our  breed and no it wasn't stuffy.  Threads did get lightheaded.

But like so much of the internet the "fluff' seems to be taking over.  <shrug>  It is, what it is and I think those of us that take research seriously are becoming a minority and those that offer good advice based on years of experience are chastised.

Another board I belong to seems like it has more posts about peoples personal trials and tribulations on it then about dogs.  Again, not my piece of cake, if for some reason I think my husband is cheating on me, or I am cheating on him, I would rather confront the situation head on then have him read about it on the interent.  But that's me and I digress.

So the fluff is taking over.  Fine.  But don't resent, chastise, and insult the oldtimers because we remember when it was a tool and not a social center.

Allow us our memories, it's pretty much all we have left.

I guess it's a sign of the times, Betty. I have to wonder where breeding and training dogs is heading.

No one resents or chastises the old timers, they are great mines of information and knowledge. And accusations of trying to agitate people are unfounded. If one expresses an opinion that differs from ones elders, it doesnt mean that opinion is right or wrong. It is merely that, an opinion. How that opinion is interpreted by others is part of being able to post here. If ones opinion isnt in agreement with the majority, then that doesnt make it wrong. It merely means that you have a different take on the subject in question, and allows for healthy discussion and input from others. No one has all the answers, no one has yet bred the perfect dog, and no two peoples idea of the perfect dog will be the same.  It just seems that sometimes people here can be so narrow minded about their own dogs, and so very quick to pick up on what they consider to be faults in other peoples dogs. If those dogs are loved, cared for and never abused, then what the hell does it matter if they are long coated or otherwise? Its a good job people cant pick apart their neighbours children they way they do they dogs!!!

Anyway, I for one, do own the perfect dog, because hes mine!!!!

Chill people, and make allowances for others, who are maybe still learning, encouragement, not chastisement or nasty posts. At the end of the day, a so called "knowledgeable breeder" earns many pennies from novices and people who choose not to show. And you cannot halt progress, a necessary evil!

Have a good day/evening, whichever time zone you are in.

I would love to hear from [oldtimers], please wade thru and share your experience and knowledge.

I personally would really appreciate hearing from long time breeders and trainers who have experience gained from time.  There is no better teacher.

zacsmum,  I respectfully disagree.  I have seen many posts from somebody new to the breed telling knowledgeable people they don't know what they are talking about.  Many of these knowledgeable people gave up and stopped posting or post so seldom few of the new one even know who the poster is.  I have watched the change through the years.  Others on this thread have stated the same thing so I am not alone in this observation.
