You must not have heard of collie eye syndrome, Shelley  . He looks like a well bred dog, doesn't he?

I'm thinking half W. German at least, possibly part either DDR/Eatern Eurpoean. Not seeing any Collie. LOL

Any idea where the dealer got him? I wonder if he was stolen or adopted from a shelter.

How is this dog doing these days? He looks very nice and powerful.

Could be one of Randy Kromer's dogs. No way to know.

Molly tells us he is coming along fine.

Shelly, Molly, and the GSD Gang,

I really give no creedance to the collie claim or much of what I have been told, except the dog was given protection training.

He was trained to protect and alert.  I agree with Shelly also that I believe he most have originated from the Kromerhaus kennels because of some of the other information I was given.  Not really that much in detail however, otherwise I'd tell you more.  What I think the Collie story really is...  He was mated with a Collie and their pups are the mix.  Not him.

Molly any updates on our big fellow?  How is he doing?  Have you worked with him at all?

I had to laugh when Shelly told me his Big Dog Attitude out burst at your place story.  Bless your heart, he can be a scary boy can't he!

I have not had any inquiries regarding his future placement (employment) since I was contacted by the Salisbury Township Police K9 Officer.  Did you hear from him or anyone else?

Any new pictures?

Any chance of starting a fresh thread, the title here now looks out of place.

Thank you all once again,

Charles W.

Maximus/Blackie is doing very well.  He has bonded with me now and is quite the friendly guy.  To me.  He now attempts to convince my kennel help (they clean, they do not handle dogs) and my horses (on the other side of the fence from the exercise yards) that he is a very dangerous dude.  I have started to work with him now, and did take him to test with my helper who is also a Police K9 trainer/handler.  Unfortunately it is evident that he has had no training in protection work - at least not "good training" and is instead a guard dog-type, behind a fence or barrier - out in the open he doesn't have a clue what to do.  He is not going to "make it" as a police or corrections K9, I will try to build his drive enough to possibly get narcotics training done, but most likely he is better suited to what he's used to doing - protecting a property, vehicle and person.  He is definately an excellent deterrant.  Hopefully I can find the right situation and person where he fits in perfectly and still has the best quality of life and home/care for the rest of his.

Molly,

Once again, thank you for taking him....

Do you think getting him a forever home is going to be difficult, because of his "way of thinking"? I'm just curious to hear what you think...

Yes, may be difficult to find him a home.  He will need the right person (experienced with strong, large, aggressive-natured dogs) and a fenced property - someone who knows what they have on the other end of the leash.  Someone who needs a dog as a deterrant, who will bond with that person but will not be social to the neighbors or the visitors.  I'll try very hard to find that person with the right experience and situation/home for him, who needs a dog like him to make sure the bad people don't come too close.   He would definately make someone feel safer living alone or in a bad neighborhood.
