If someone pulls him and transports him, and his temperament is ok (for pet or working, doesn't matter) then I can take him until a home is found.
molly
Good luck with this dog. It is gratifying to see how many are willing to step up to the plate and save him.
Molly-
I'm planning to check him out, probably tomorrow. If you could re-home him that would be great. I'm told the only issue preventing him from going on the adoption floor is he acts aggressive in the inside run (not the outside ex area) probably an act, but it puts people off. Open the door and he's all friendly. I don't know if I can get away to bring him all the way to you, but I'll talk to the investigator when I meet the dog. Maybe he can work something out. I've never worked with a shelter before, so I am not sure what it takes to spring a dog, but I guess I'll find out soon.
Thanks for offering to help. I'll keep you posted as I learn more.

Shelley,
I know a guy who might be interested. I'll forward your ad to him. Thanks for helping out!
Yvette
I've never rescued a dog from a humane society before. Turns out in order to pull Maximus from the shelter I have to come up with some kind of "credentials" as a GSD trainer. Its been about 10 yrs. since I trained for a municipal law enforcement agency. I hope I can find some of the old paperwork, pix, invoices, cert's of appreciation, letters of reference... something. They said it doesn't have to be fancy, just some kind of proof that I have some background as a GSD trainer/handler. I'm thinking a pic of my trophies, most long in storage, and my Gold USA Sports Medal (so old the gold has worn off) won't cut it. Ha ha ha. I just hope they don't try to hit me for the $150. adoption fee for springing him.
SS
I am a certified narcotics K9 handler, and have the certificate to prove it - if that makes a difference, they could transport him directly to me.
molly
If they hit you up for the adoption fee, please let me know - I'll wire the money to you to get him out. We can do Western Union..
My buddy Mike is an active K9 LEO. I forwarded the link to him. He should have "credential" aplenty.
I wish I could get the guy to bring the dog up for testing today, get this thing done and the dog on way to a happier life sooner, but with all the ice I probably couldn't do much with him anyway today. We expecting warmer weather again tomorrow. Hopefully at least part of my training field will thaw in the sun today and tomorrow. I'll take mud over ice any day! Wish I had a protection sleeve, but I don't, just tugs and burlap sacks. Probably okay just to get an idea about Max's temperament and drives. I'm too old, slow and feeble to be working dogs in protection anyway. LOL Doesn't take much of a dog to take Shelley down even if it does take me seriously enough to actually bite me. The last one that found me in the blind just looked at me quizzically as if to say "Sorry, I thought there might be a helper in here." and walked away.
SS
Shelley, Thanks for the laugh. I keep saying our dogs teach us true humility. But the blind picture is just the best.
Hope all goes well with "Max". Please keep us posted. I have a 2nd hand connection w/ a K9 unit in MD that I can pull out if necessary. Also how about Customs - they take older dogs.
Good luck for both you and Max. Watch out for that ice especially the black ice on the roads meanwhile keep smiling you've kept us smiling.
