According to this statement they due plan on breeding the Panda Shepherd. "Furrari Kennels will in the near future be breeding only "Exclusively" White and Panda shepherds." That quote came directly off their site.

Well what is it that can be done? Is it not time to have the GSD defined in accordance with the German parent club? This is so ridiculous. OK, if they are going to breed this stuff, well, they should not be GSD's. Call them the "American Shepherd". Or the "American White Shepherd". The "American Panda Shepherd" Or whatever. It is truly funny, but one excellent dog that originated in the USA is termed the "Australian Shepherd". And now they are calling all of this "German Shepherd Dog" and not complying with any guidelines set down by the German parent club. I am turning a corner here folks in my tolerance. Sunshine

unfortunately the AKC does make it difficult for folks to take the Am Bred breeder serious.. because they do not require a Breed Survey or titles etc. So therefore its up to the GSDCA to implement this.. perhaps voluntarily at first, so folks can see its not a "control" thing that is actually something to at least show breeders are making an honest effort to do what is right. One thing we all know, a dog that is koreklassed does not mean its going to be breed worthy and that its offspring will be as well...however, its a fantastic tool to use, thats for sure.. and if people dont try to PROVE what their dogs can do.. it makes it difficult for us to take folks seriously. Most of us started in Am Breds and then moved on because we got irritated with the fact that anyone in the world can breed an AKC puppy and not prove what the pedigree can do...but there are alot of Am Bred breeders that although not required, do dual title their dogs. They get their Championship and they do Obedience, Herding etc... and make sure OFA hips AND elbows are done. There are ethical Am Bred Breeders... its just the non ethical seem to take precedence and make it harder for the good guy. Hang tight guys because you just may be seeing a change in the way the PC does things... just might see at least a voluntary breed survey. Gotta be realistic... typically the Am Breds are not given a chance in the German ring... the standard is a little different and alot of the drive has been lost because most Am Breds go to Pet homes and many many pet homes do not want off the walll high drive dogs in their house... so they have no where to do a Breed Survey. by the way Charlie, which REAL German standard do you speak of? The old one or the new one? Curious, my am bred friends tell me the show line German dogs had gone away from the standard with the roach and the Working lines seem to be the ones who stayed the same... what do you guys think? Regards, Dawnmarie

Wow, Dawnmarie, I have finally found a mutual ground for us. What is the REAL German Shepherd? Do you believe it to be high drive working lines that can't survive in the average pet home? Or is it the hi line show dogs (some of which come from bought titles)? that can't make it in working dog homes? You really have to sift through the BS of bought titles, politics at shows, lack of reputable trainers, and then hope that the public is educated enough to make a good decision. But the saddest factor is that NONE of the organizations "dedicated" to protect this breed has implemented any REAL policies to do so.

because i have a bit of experience in the breeding of collies, i put forth the suggestion that the so-called 'panda' shepherd' is in reality a double-dilute. both parents would have to carry the gene for dilution, resulting in blue eyes and large patches of white. i am now wondering whether these markings would require 2 double-dilute GSDs to be bred together... (sort of thinking out loud) in collies, double-dilutes result from the breeding of 2 blue merles (a dilute animal). this is done infrequently because double dilutes are prone to a host of problems, including blind or missing eyes, deafness and retardation. if this is the case, expect all GSD pups from a breeding involving a 'panda' parent to be similar in markings... my point: trouble ahead because double-dilute becomes a dominant effect! if interested: breeding a double-dilute collie to any other color will result in all merled puppies. the reason collie breeders may do a blue to blue breeding is sometimes to get pups in a shaded 'lilac' color with very little black, or in the HOPE of getting a healthy dog who will always produce merles. a healthy double-dilute (who generally carries a lot of white body color) is then usually bred to a tri-color (black dog with white & tan markings). this yields a richly pigmented all blue merle litter. double-dilutes are not generally bred to sables (lassie color) because sable merles look a bit odd and almost never win in the show ring.

Brian- 6-8 months ago when this was floating around remebering the original site of this bitch stated they have no intentions of breeding this dog for it is a mutation gene. Sorry I was not clear. Just sickening.
