Hailey:

Most clubs care more about whether you are serious about training your dog with them and not just going once in a while to waste their time and energy as you feel like it, than whether or not your dog is coated or not.  Most will probably say, "Ok.  Let's see what (dog) can do."  and proceed with evaluating/training from there if you're interested and serious.

I doubt very seriously that anyone would ridicule or ostracize you because you have a coated dog.   There are mixed breeds (GSD/Mal rescue in one case as I understand it, but I could be wrong about the circumstances) in the (DVG) club that I train with.  We're there to train, we have a good time doing it and I haven't yet heard anyone pass a negative comment about someone else's dog because of a coat fault, mixed breeding or other such thing.

Go.  Show them that you're serious about the training.  Work with your dog.  Attend and participate and train at the field during scheduled trainings.

"Coat" does not mean "incapable".  Train on!   You and your girl will be all the better for it.

Good luck with your girl!

I just wasted 5 minutes skimming this thread and I'm wasting another minute now.  Smartboy seems to start alot of controversial threads and disappears with a bag of popcorn.

I think I just puked in my own mouth!  This site has become rediculous.  boring too. Where have all the old posters gone?  Seems like nothing but meaningless garbage.

You're right, DeKal... it's amazing that the 'old posters' don't stick around when such insightful comments seem to be the rule rather than the exception here. Weird. Have a great weekend!

Ulla

I sense sarcasm.    Thanks for wishing me a great weekend too!   I'll try to be more insightful and tell people about my dogs and how much I love them.  You're right.  I need to express my feelings, not my knowledge.  Seems to be the trend.

Thanks!

I guess I should start controversial posts like the OP and disappear for all the good little kids to fight about.

i am overwhelmed by the feedback.  thanx a ton to everybody for sparing their valuable time and energy.  but Dekal, i had not disappeared anywhere.  I was busy preparing for show ring.  but was little embarrased when i was excused for LC bitch (stock).  the embarrasment soon disappeared when my bitch was praised for its very good angulations by almost everybody present there.

Dekal, one thing more.  when i posted this topic it was not with the intention to create controversy and i think nowhere in this thread have controvery ever  been expressed.  it was just to  know the experience from u guys who have had a LC gsd with them.  No controversy. trust me. and i also feel that u r just saying it in a very jovial way.  Be happy, nothing like that.

shepherd women, blitzen and beaugsd thanks to you especially for sharing free and frank opinion.

my luv and respect to every body

If you are cutting coats to show. There is something wrong. That is cheating.

You can not alter your dog in any way for a show.

I read also an article in u.s.a. magazine about coming out with a test for hair dye. I think that would be a good ideal. Since they suspect some cheating in the dark hair dyes. And people will do any thing sometimes to win.

I don't know anything about ukc shows. But, altering a dog coat thru thinning with the comb, plucking, shaving, or what ever

be the case, is flat out cheating, unless...................... in the show rules for that breed it says you can. Or thru some type of

ukc standard directed directly to the gsd, that you can alter the coat I refuse to believe you can cheat.

I don't mean for this to make anyone angry. It just does not make sense.

(altercation of dogs in show ring in akc or sv) you get caught you get kicked out of the ring. dq., you are misrepresenting the dog and the breed.
