Yay! Tequilla for all! I don't speak anything but a dribble of spanglish & a smattering of pigin Japanese/Chinese/Phillipino...but I know how to cut & paste onto babelfish & back! I think it's fun...I sure wish I could be fluent in another language...(maybe dog?) It just started snowing here, & my neighbors St. Bernard just tried to jump into my bedroom by knocking the wall A/C unit out of the window, LOL, he's the biggest PIA! My girl's in heat, & he's intact, just chased him back down the street, now I've got to go call his owner....sigh... save a shot for me, thanks! jh

Sue...looove that song! My all time favourite song by Edith Piaf! Gshprdsrul, I have been wearing hearing aids since I was 13. It has gradually gotten worse over the years, until I now have only 10% hearing in my right ear, and 30% in my left. Ringing in the ears is a sure sign of nerve deafness, BTW, which is what I have (damage to the cochlea and inner ear.) I lost my husband to cancer 3 years ago. When he went, I thought about getting a Hearing Ear dog, and was told I would have to get rid of any pet dogs I had. My girl was 13 at the time, and I'd had her since before I was married. Ask me to give up my children, why don't you?? (I don't have kids, which makes it all the harder to be alone...) Just before Tasha died at the age of 14, I adopted a male rescue, whose owner had kept him on an 8 ft. chain, and was planning to shoot him. When I found out it was possible to train my own dog, I said, "Hell, why not??" He now alerts me to the alarm clock, kitchen timer, smoke alarm and door. He's BIG (25 1/2") has a black face, and looks really scary. I feel a lot more secure having him in my life. GSD's are smart dogs, and it's very easy to train them. I only needed the help of a professional trainer for one session, to teach him to alert to the door. (She'd knock on it, and encourage him to bark. He'd been an outside dog, and didn't know what the heck a knock on the door meant.) Now, he alerts just fine to both a knock and the doorbell, as well as the postie delivering my mail. Canada doesn't recognize owner trained service dogs, so I have not made an effort to get him certified, although he does have a vest, and I have done some public access training with him. Since I really just need his services at home, I haven't pushed it with the public access training. Maybe I should: his behaviour in public is nearly flawless, though we do need to work a bit more on how he reacts to other dogs. He's not aggressive, just gets really excited, and wants to meet them, and pulls towards them. If I worked a bit more on it, I'm sure he'd get over this. He's a fast learner, and only needed 2 or 3 sessions before he was alerting reliably to both the alarm clock and the smoke alarm. Heck, he even woke me up at 3 in the morning recently, to tell me the battery on the smoke alarm was gone! :-))

LOL Good luck with your AC..I used to have a female Husky that my neighbors Great Dane fell in love with. He would stand at the window and just whimper. With his owners running down the street trying to catch him...What a combo that would have been...Can we say ugly..Finally got her fixed...
